Are we still videoing this? I can bring the camera along and do that if there's room for that.

My idea is we record the screen, and also record the presentation - to be joined later.

I'd love to come to both the PS and SB800 sessions, but will have to make it a later one. :(

If it helps, I can host up to about 40MB (prob. DivX files) for people to download, but will have to be less than 10MB per file - ISP's rules. The movies will probably be bigger than that, but I can put up any demo files or before and after type images.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to give up my place at the Tutorial on 5 Feb because of a diary conflict (that i was only just told about - you know the drill!)

So it's up for grabs if someone wants it.

Cheers

AJ

If I could tell my story in words I wouldn't have to lug my camera around......Dostoievsky/Gogol/Celine/Cendrars/Joyce/Aldington/Miller/ Burroughs/ White/Balzac/Satre etc etc etc

I could tell my story with an anvil, a chainsaw, and a bathtub of jelly (jello)... but it might get messy.

Thanks!

Nnnnsic,
I read few discussions about it earlier of this thread, but don't know what's going on next, who'll starring and stunt? nor any ideas who's the cameraman and models?

From what I recall, Dad would probably shoot it and I'd be on the editing duty... and we'd probably also you a screen-recording piece of software to record what's happening on-screen.

The edited result would be a split screen or picture-in-picture presented tutorial showing what to do from both the camera and on-screen stuck on a DVD.

At least, that's how I understood it the last time Dad talked about it with me.

(Oh, and I'm qualified to edit this... :) )

Leigh,
I heard about it also, but last time, I met him at Bobbin Head, he said he won't be back on time for the 12th, so I didn't know what's next!

I'm returning on the 5th, but probably unavailable for the meet on that day.

12th will be fine, we'll have camcorders, projectors, popcorn, pizza, the local constabulary ....

If you bring the Sony, I might be able to run a tutorial afterwards showing people how to edit using either Premiere or Vegas (real programs) by editing our footage on the fly! :)

But only if there's pizza... Well... only if there's a computer for me to work on, actually...

The lappy.

It'd be quite awkward to use a proggie like Premiere or Vegas on the video camera.

Film on the JVC. Edit on the Sony while I'm there... if anyone wants to see how easy editing is. :)

From what I understand, they still do, even in the D70... but Sony still make crap.

I have exceptions for the MD units (predating HiMD), the PS2, and the Aibo. :)

Glen,

A couple, the Sony laptop being likely to be the very last of any Sony branded product that I'll buy.

$570 odd doallars for a laptop battery? just who the hell do they think they're kidding.

That'll be the ASUS then. The Sony's at Lindy's ATM. Yes, the ASUS has firewire.

You can install the software when I get back

Sony consumer products do not impress me. Their digicams are shit, their laptops are overpriced underperformers, for which they have even more outrageosuly overpriced batteries.

Their basic quality is less than optimal too. The McDonalds of consumer electronics. (Sharp is worse still, btw).

It would be more like Mcdonalds if Mcdonalds charged 3 times the market value of a real cheeseburger.

I walked into a sony store the other day and I figured that the damn people who buy their product must be complete meatheads. You get nothing for the price (especially desktops and laptops). I own an MD player, and even it has problems that I deplore. I agree, never another sony unless it is a sensor in a Nikon or a video game (even the PS2 units are significantly and noticably less quality than the same priced Xbox). I don't know how they get away with it...actually, there is this one guy at work, all he ever gets is sony for some reason. He's just a sony guy and thinks it's neat to have all one brand. I hope he doesn't trick himself into thinking its a quality brand.

People now aday gone to Asus or other non-brand name with all tit and tats.
Brand name uses the same manufacturers or same parts, and bump the premium, they guess we'll trust and go with them.

I sold more ASUS notebooks than HP or Toshiba, Toshiba used to be an expensive lappy, the first Toshiba Tecra edition cost over 10k.

Now with some other brands you can buy around 2.1/2k with all other bits which the brand name got and charged 4-5k.

Stay away from Sony VAIO, it's just the "show off" machine, won't do any good and as Gary said, it's overpriced with their accessories.

Or buy any clone lappy at a very low price with all the top gears of the top brand name machine.
