Hunter Valley/Newcastle Micro Meet

Postby Colcam on Thu Aug 10, 2006 9:21 pm

I will be staying in the Hunter Valley wineries region (and I don'[t even drink!) for the week of 21st - 25th Aug. if anybody can get some time to join me for a bit of a shoot around the area. I am open to suggestions re site. I am reasonably familiar with the place down there.
I would just like to meet up with some of the gang and enjoy a day out or somesuch.
Any takers? :?: :)

Col Being a local and knowing the region pretty well I'd be up for it as I'm sure a few other locals here would be. Are you only there during the week? ATM the Hunter Valley gardens has the Festival Of Flowers show on but admission is something like $15. Whereabouts are you staying? I'm sure we could organise something. Where HAVEN'T you been. eg have you been to Newcastle, Port Stephens (Nelson Bay).

Great stuff Peter. I would enjoy that very much. Unfortunately, I will only be there for the weekdays and returning on Saturday. I am shouting my dear old Mum a posh week at the Grand Mecure Vintage resort. Map at http://www.grandmercurehuntervalley.com ... 1148432595

I will PM you my phone, etc just for your reference. I would say at this stage that monday is out as I will be arriving that day & will be royally zonked after the drive, but apart from that, you decide. We may be able to get some interesting things around the resort too or up the hills, down to the beach/river, I don't care mate.
I will try to not organise as it is the first holiday I have had since 1981

Well overdue for some serious R&R

I'd also be interested in joining you and Peter.

There certainly are plenty of photo opportunitiies in the vineyard but also some interesting stuff a bit further as well. If you are driving from QLD, you probably won't feel like doing too much driving around.

cheers,

Andre

Thanks Andre. Let's go for it. I should be okay once I have had a sleep on Monday. Driving is okay. We should team up in a car or two depending on how many turn up and share fuel.
Lets keep in touch

Col,

being a work day, we probably can only afford half-day, so we will have to minimise the driving.

Do you prefer:

-staying in the vineyard? A sunset could be nice.
-coming to Newcastle - around the port/CBD/beaches
-Lake Macquarie - sunset on the lake somewhere

Let us know what you would prefer and we can then get the finer details of locations, times, etc.

cheers,

Andre
