Hi Scott,
I can't speak for everyone but I REALLY enjoy seeing images as they are posted. I don't really see the point of waiting until submissions close. It's up to the person taking the image to upload as soon as they can/or when they believe they have the 'best' image. That's my two cents worth. Thanx for your ongoing contribution to this too! :)

Geoff, the point of waiting is that later entrants cannot be influenced by earlier entrants, and nobody will think they have been influenced by earlier entries.

It also means that all entries are available for viewing together, for the same amount of time, and in the context of all the other entries.

I voted hidden for reasons I explained in the results thread.

Thanks MHD I think that the longer voting period is good. Everyone should have the opportunity to vote.

I voted for a yes.... just to keep an element of surprise and too ensure that people think for themselves regarding the shot they will take.

cheers

I voted yes, although I actually enjoyed watching the drama unfold as images were posted.

Why yes? So all images are looked at fresh to have a level playing field. Even with my own images the more I look the more my take on the shot changes.

This is not an easy question to answer!

Points for viewing from lodgement of images:
Encourages others to follow suit (edit: typo! Sorry, thought police!)
    Stimulates thought processes
    Creates interest in the comp
May advantage/disadvantage early posters because of familiarity

Points for simultaneous unveiling:
    All images get equal air-time
Competition has more clearly defined time-frame
Could create anticipation & buildup as unveiling approaches
Avoids any plagiarism of ideas etc (either overt or subliminal)

Hmm.! (Thinking hard!) :D

On balance, I vote for a simultaneous unveiling, just because I think it may be fairer to all entrants in terms of originality of thought and execution. But I think we would have to "market" the comp slightly more to make sure we get sufficient number of entries, given that there may be less stimulation without seeing new approaches to the topic on a gradual basis.

It is an interesting problem. :?

cricketfan, I love your terminology "Simultaneous Unveiling". Excellent.

Actually, Greg, now that you point it out - it sounds like I was thinking of a line of exotic dancers (if you know what I mean!)

I voted Yes for most of the reasons already stated.
As for keeping interest in the competition, maybe Scott can place a blank place holder as each photo is entered just with the name of the photo but no image, that way we have an Idea of how many entries are in and if you are really clever with your title, you can have a bit of a teaser as well.
