April 7 update: New shipment of D2X's just arrived, 3 left finding no buyers so far. I just did up the listing for UK eBay - 2699 pounds sterling (just over $US5k), and my suggested joke of a free 256Mb CF card stuck. ;)

Along with a batch of Nikkor 80-400 and 70-200 VR lenses. I believe they've all been pre-allocated. So if you've been waiting for these backordered items, the wait shall be over soon, your VR lust will be cured for this week/month. 8)

We also have the latest version of Capture, v4.2 come in. There have been reports that those serial number floating around the intarweb does not work for 4.2 (Nikon cracking down on piracy?!), so if you want a genuine version of latest Nikon Capture, make enquiries to you know where.

If you stick the seriel in a previous version then upgrade it works, but if you just try 4.2 full it won't. Uses a numerical seriel number I think.

pippin88,
That's the way and I've done it with my 5PCs and I have the original NC 4.0, Nikon can't stop me upgrading my original and genuine license.

NC 5.0 is now worth for the wait! I'm pretend. and PSCS 2.

Yep, absolutely. Of course, it's of no use to those that have trouble with NC4.1 and earlier. I had private correspondence with one particular individual who seems to have hardware incompatibility with earlier versions of Capture (pre 4.2).

It'll be a while to go before NC5. As hinted in the D50 manual, version 4.3 supports NEFs from that camera model, so we can expect either one as a predictor for the other to be released in the not too distant future (no, I haven't played with the D50 yet...)

Adobe will have new plug-ins for D2x and other by May, perhaps including the D50 and D70s.

13 April update:

New Gitzo models just come in. xx97 and xx98 series, similar to the xx27 and xx28, but with different carbon fibre strands. The G1298 looks to be a replacement for the G1228. Apart from leg section's materials, the knobs, fasteners and all looks to be the same.

http://stores.ebay.com/www-hksupplies-com have listings in 3 currencies (US dollar, Aussie dollar and pounds sterling)

Basically, from about $AU400-700. The G1297/1298 top of the Basalt range have lower rated load capacities than comparable 2 series carbons (G1227/1228). There are meant to be lightweight travelling "2nd" tripods IMHO. I love the anti-rotating legs, which means you can loosen all leg sections at once and pull for quicker setup. I've read of some opinions that these have lessor build quality, I did not find this to be the case. They are every bit as solid and stable as CF models. Fasteners, joints, all material, and the fit was perfect - typically Gitzo.
