KenRockwell on Canon 20D - ReviewBirddog114

He made a big fuss over the D70's top flash sync speed before it's introduction too. I guess it suits his style of shooting, so he places great emphasis on it.
I still agree with aspects of his opinion - esp Nikon's ergonomics superior to Canon's EOS bodies. I was surprised to read the 20D had no spot metering. Even more so that everything that came before it didn't either! I'm so glad I chose the superior Nikon system.
Onyx, Only Pro Canon bodies has it, correct me if I'm wrong here! Birddog114

Well the D70’s perch was bumped but IMO it has stabilized.
I think it will have to be a little better then this to knock the D70 right off As for the spot meter, I use it a lot for sunsets so the 20D isn’t my cup of tea I am looking forward to trying out the SB 800 on some Motor cross images with the high sink speed. I think the money outlay will be well worth the images that mite come. Cheers Ray >> All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism<<
Yea Birddog, I should have clarified - everything in the 20D replacement lineup didn't have spot metering, ie. 30D, 60D & 10D.
5FPS sure sounds good. I've shot action with the D70. Although 3FPS can sometimes frustrate (eg. a baseball game in Central Park recently), viewfinder blackout is surprisingly brief. SB800 will be well worth it Raydar. Be sure to buy odd numbers of batteries for it too (5th cell for quick recycling).
That was a big issue for me with the 5700. A very big issue. g.

Will do mate
I have the batteries already “from the 5700 days” there the Lenmar nomem pro 2300mAh ones. Awesome batteries!!!!!! About 3 weeks & I should have the SB 800. Cheers Ray >> All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism<<
Raydar, If money is not an issue!!!! Should look at the Nikon external battery pack SD-8A, or looking for a Quantum Battery Pack, they will provide their juice for you all day and night with 4 time recycling quicker than the set of 5 AA. Birddog114

Raydar, Come down to the meet next week-end, I let you try on the SB-800, I have two. Birddog114

I don’t think I will be using the flash enough to warrant getting the power pack.
But in the future if I need to it’s always an option. Thanks Mate if I could be there I would, with bells on!!!!!! It will be a while before I can come down, to much work on ATM. The day will come Cheers Ray >> All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism<<
And I now have one. g.
