I took this picture on our return from Porosus Creek. Two Tawny Nurse sharks came playfully to inspect our boat. They normally rest during the day and hunt at night using suction to get their prey from holes and crevices. They are considered placid and can grow to 3.2 metres long, but I wouldn't like them to come near me when I am in the water. I hope you like the picture.

This view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge is from the bar balcony of the Crown Casino. The bridge is made of steel and joins the central business district to the North Shore. It is an iconic image of Sydney. The bridge’s image during the New Year fireworks display is seen the world over. It is nicknamed "The Coat Hanger" because of its shape and it was opened in 1932. I hope you like the picture.

During our trip up the Kimberley coast, we took a helicopter ride that took 15 minutes to and fro to see the Mitchell Falls (Punamii-unpuu). The waters of the Mitchell River runs along the Mitchell Plateau carving the sandstone and producing layers of mesmerising emerald water pools from which the waters tumble from one to the next. Swimming is not permitted below the falls, due to the possible presence of saltwater crocodiles. The falls are an iconic Kimberley landmark and a place of cultural and spiritual significance for the Wunambal people. ...

Downloaded a trial version of Topaz Gigapixel. Ran an image from this year's Avalon airshow to see how effective the result is. Here's a comparison. Does a reasonable job of upscaling. I have tried to use PS Super Resolution enhancement but I can't for the life of me find out how to do it.

I took this picture of the decorative stained glass window at one of the cocktail lounges in the Coral Princess. It was the cocktail hour and we were on our way to the city of Napier in New Zealand. I hope you like it.

I took this picture of the car when we were just arriving at the port of Wellington. The cars either were waiting to be shipped or be sent to the dealers. I hope you like it.

Cable Beach is a 22 km stretch of white sand beach on the eastern Indian Ocean. It was named after the telegraph cable laid between Broome and Java in 1889. This is the place to be at sunset in Broome (WA); and camel riding in the beach is a popular tourist activity. I hope you like it.

Grandkids (8 and counting) are great excuses to take photos. Just happened to stumble across a Sigma 105mm F1.4 behemoth and here's a few shots, SOOC. The lens is as sharp as the proverbial razor with magnificent background blur.

Mark Whyte of Lyttleton created both sculptures to celebrate the town's recovery from the earthquake in January 1933.The statue with the dog is of Sheila Williams, the Carnival Queen of the ‘Napier Carnival’. The statue celebrates the elegance of women in the Deco period. The second bronze is of a boy who had climbed a verandah post to watch and is waving at Sheila as she passes by.

The “torrija” is a delicious and simple Spanish Easter dessert! It is usually made by soaking stale bread in milk that has been boiled and flavoured with cinnamon sticks and lemon peels. It is dipped in beaten egg and fried with olive oil. Later and while it is still hot, it is covered with cinnamon sugar. The cook Domingo Hernández de Maceras in his recipe book ‘Libro de Cozina’ (1607) uses the word «torrija» to describe the dish, but he doesn’t explain the cooking method he used. Felipe II’s palace cook, Francisco Francisco Mar ...

As I walked down Brunswick Street towards Fortitude Valley, I noticed the grand entrance to a building I hadn’t seen before and as I looked up I saw the asymmetrical façade of Hotel X, a new five-star hotel with its night light display. I hope you like it.
