FS: Ikea Jerker DeskPut this here as its really only relevant to Brisbane.
I have an Ikea Jerker desk I no longer need. We have two - one for me, one for my wife. She's now finished studies so we need to sell one to make room. You can get all the info here: http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s ... ctId=47022 But basically it's a big, strong table. Metal frame and particleboard top with birch veneer. Width: 160 cm; Depth: 80 cm; Height: 72 cm; Max. load: 75 kg. Great as a computer desk as heaps of room and enough space to have a full height tower under the desk too (how I use mine). This one is in very good condition. Ikea has them for $189, mine's available for $110, you collect (inner southside Brisbane). PM me for more info. Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes. http://www.dionm.net/
I understand a dining table is for dining on, what is a jerker desk?
exactly what I was thinking. Seriously though, these swedish guys should give some thought to where their products will be sold!! Probably very innocent over there. Steve check out my image gallery @

Ikea names eveything, it is probably named by the bloke who designed it.

seriously though, ikea names everything after the guy who came up with it or some suitable swedish word
Jerker probably means something vanilla like general purpose check out my image gallery @

There is no Swedish word - Jerker.
It does recall a limerick, however There was a young fellow called Merkin Who was always jerkin' the gherkin His mother said Merkin Stop jerkin' your gherkin Your gherkin's for ferkin' not jerkin' And so a desk was created. Greg - - - - D200 etc

You guys
Its just the Ikea naming system. I guess after Bjorn and Benny they ran out of names we knew. Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes. http://www.dionm.net/
Or, teacher at school with new class points to a boy in the front row and says: "What's your name?" He replies "Peter Baker, Miss." "Well, Peter," she says, "your relatives, many years ago, baked bread for their village, and that's where the name Baker comes from." She points to the next boy and asks:"What's your name?" "Freddie Butcher, Miss." "Well your relatives probably supplied meat to their local village." At this, the next boy says "Miss, my name is Johnny Hancock. What would my relatives have done?" Boom, boom. TFF (Trevor)

When I saw your post I thought you where going to make your first moderator executive decision to get everyone to stick to the topic. Nice to see that power hasn't gone to your head. __________

I think you'll find both "Bjorn" and "Benny" loosely translate to "Jerker" in Swedish anyway... Simon
