I'll be coming to the big smoke for a visit over Christmas, so where are places of interest to visit and try my new D70.

Hopefully I'll have some free time if I can get away from the kids.

I'm staying in Chermside if that helps, I dont realy know my way around but the wife does.

Look forward in interest

MATT

unlike melbourne... it's the big 'clean' smoke :D

Depends on what type of photography you want to do Matt. If it's architectural and the like, you can't beat going down to southbank and knocking off quite a few shots. you could also go up to mount cootha lookout if you want to take a panorama of Brisbane.

flowers, bugs, trees, etc ... botanical gardens in the city.

For some industrial type shots, you could head over to bretts wharf and hamilton for some good shots of the river, the large ships, the gateway bridge etc... there are a couple of navy ships viewable from there at the moment also... and just down the road is the airport if you want to grab some shots of planes coming in.

If you want to get out of the city, just north of chermside is the pine river... places like dohles rocks are good for the classic old fishing boat on the river with a pelican perched near by.

There's also the boardwalks etc which are at redcliffe and scarborough... I live up that way so feel free to holla if you want to catch up for a cold beer etc.

Speaing of which.... I had a quick use of the 200 - 400 at Birddogs on the weekend.

I know what you meant when you said you would need support. After a couple of images my arm would be giving away. I was very impressed with the VR functionality though.

I think xerebus pretty much nailed it.

I'd just add a couple more:
along the top of the Kangaroo Point cliffs there are excellent shots across the river to the city - particularly early morning & dusk

at the city end of the New Farm Riverwalk there are also good cityscape & river photos to be had

Go to it & maybe we can see some posted on the site :o

I'll run them all pst the wife, she should now how to get to most places.

I was thinking Southbank and the Botanical gardens, Mount Cootha sounds good.

Thanks for the ideas .

I think Birddog with his 200-400 could probable see me from home.

Brissy is big smoke when I l;ive in a town with 5000 people.

Thanks ALL
