BBQs at Oreilly's

Postby DionM on Thu Mar 30, 2006 10:13 pm

Anyone know if there are BBQs are up at O'Reilly's? Can't remember if there are any up there or not. Heading up soon for a visit and wondering if a BBQ lunch is a possibility ...

Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes.

Dion,

Yes, there are barbeques at O'Reilly's. They are on the opposite side of the guesthouse, on the lawn and run by the Qld Parks and Wildlife Service. To make sure they are in working order, you can ring the Green Mountains section of QPWS.

I was there on Saturday and the forest is looking so lush at the moment. I dropped my wife there so she could walk the Border track and I then drove to Binna Burra, where I conducted a nature photography workshop.

O'Reilly's was my home for 5 years and where I worked and took photos and I'm still employed at Binna Burra as a casual nature guide and do some photography workshops.

I absolutely love the place!

Cheers

Finch,

It sounds like you're the person to conduct a mini-meet at O'Reillys.......

A possibility perhaps?

I agree Michael. A holiday at O'Reillys used to be an annual event for me. Magical place. Unfortunately my knees prohibit much walking at the moment.

I thought having knees was supposed to make walking easier, John. :)
I recognise the problem though - must be all that football, eh?

Michael,

if you have the time and interest, I reckon it would be a great opportunity. A pm would be welcomed.

A mini meet up there would be great. Maybe an overnighter, camping at O'Reilly's?

John,

I reckon that'd be a great idea..... Don't know about the camping (don't have any gear), my idea of camping would be the lodge up there.

I'm easy - if we want to stop at the Lodge, no problems.

Thanks guys. I was up there Sat and found that yes, there were BBQs 8) Finch ... we may have even crossed paths at one point I guess!

A mini-meet up there would be great. We could even take a squizz down Duck Ck Rd ...
