Another North Coast NewbieHi All
I have been "lurking" the forum for about a month now and have satisfied myself that most of you are a little more warped than me and as such I am sure that i'll fit right in. Firstly, thank you all for your contributions to this forum, they have helped me so much over the past weeks. You see I had no equiptment at all and needed to aquire some. Not being sure what to get, I can only say that the posts on this forum were a godsend in helping with these decisions. You should all be congratulated on the tone of your forum and the wealth of knowledge contained within it, very refreshing! At this stage the most I can hope to bring to the forum is a little bit of encouragement, but hey only having a DSLR in my hands for 3 weeks I'm sure that you'll all excuse me, well at least for 30 days or so. Looking forward to meeting some of you soon (O'Reilly's) and becoming a part of your community. Ps. Pirostich, thanks for the heads up on the forum. Mark

Welcome to the forum Mark
I think you'll find when you meet this lot that they are a lot more warped than you give them credit for Looking forward to seeing your shots, and meeting you eventually. Rel Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships! -Ansel Adams

After reading and reading and then some more reading, it became obvious to me that at this point I would be the weekest link in the chain so I opted to save some $ now and purchased a D50 with 18-55 kit lens along with the 70-300G. So I have a little left over in the budget and am looking at good glass. The intention is to buy good glass first and once I am familiar with DSLR's I will upgrade the body. I want a D2x but then who doesn't? Prob. settle for a D200 later this year. Mark
