Hey Mark.
Apart from March 13, any of these days is okay for me with a bit of notice, so I'm happy to vote with you for the 27th.
Simon.

Quick question, are newbies invited or is there a settling in period?
This a great site and would look forward to meeting others in the group.

What is the purpose of the meet - is it an outing where we take photos, or just say hi or what?

Well if there are 5 votes for Sunday the 27th already, I guess that should be the day then.

now for the fun part.... where to meet.... a few suggestions have been made in the past...
- meet at breakfast creek hotel for a meal or a drink...
- meet at bago's place for a bbq
we could also make it a shooting trip to somewhere if that's what people would like...
throw some ideas around folks...

Craig coming from the south as you will be, you need to get across the River and get through the city. The 27th is a sunday so traffic will be relatively light. Myself I would ues the Story Bridge and then turn right down through the Valley.
Everyone in Brissie knows the Brekky Creek so there will be no shortage of advice once you make Brisbane.

Okay....
Sunday the 27th Feb it is... and it looks like the Breakfast Creek Hotel is the go. Look forward to meeting everyone.
Perhaps a get together drink and then go for a wander around taking some shots.
Trevor... if you are coming, perhaps you will be able to help out with some good areas around newstead to take some shots.

What is the OCAU?
I thought that most people had agreed on the date. Do we have to start all over again?

I was going to the OCAU one anyway, (if they get their act together) more friendly Canon users there

I'm not sure what you're getting at Petal. I noticed your smiley at the end of your comment so I'm assuming you've got your tongue in your cheek. If you're genuine then you would already be aware that we welcome your input no matter what hardware you drive. If, however, you're seeing what sort of bite you can get then I'm afraid we have better things to concern ourselves with. Sorry you can't make our meet but give our regards to everyone over at OCAU and make sure you post a few photos here afterwards for us to see.
Now, back to the business at hand. 12 Noon at the 'Creek is fine by me. Are we meeting out the back? (Haven't been there for ages so I trust there is still a "back" !!)
Mark: had you planned to book a table or something? Should those that have them wear their D70User polos or just a pink carnation in our lapels?
Simon.

I'm not after a bite, I just take the piss from Nikon users whenever I can. You'll notice that I have been a member here for quite a bit longer than you so I'm sure I know the feel of this place pretty well.

Fair point, though I hope you're not one to pull rank on someone who hasn't been here as long...
No offence taken and when the Canon guys get too annoying you can always come and have a beer with us.

I'll be there.

I asked in an earlier post whether a table had been booked or where we were actually going to meet. Any ideas? Sundays can be pretty busy at the 'Creek.

Okay - I'll take a punt on the fact that people want a feed rather than just sitting at the bar. I'll try to book a table based on the numbers we have so far plus a fudge factor for a couple of extras.
If anyone else reading this thread wants to reply and confirm their attendance that would be helpful. (Or even if tentative)
Simon.
