SE Qld Meet #2

PostPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2005 10:10 am
by xerubus
For the second meet we are all going to go to Lamington National Park and spend a day shooting. There will be plenty of subjects to shoot, and we should be able to get a good amount of differing shots.

I have put the dates for Sunday's in the poll. If Sunday's are no good for people please let me know and I'll add Saturday's to the poll. Also, I haven't included March 27 as that Easter.

cheers

I voted for April 17, but 10th would also be Ok with me. Should be a good day, it's a good spot.

Sounds a good meet idea but a bit far for the day for me from the coast. I might pass on this until another Brisbane meet.

I picked the 17th as it suites best - but could also do the 3rd.

Cheers,

As I have not been to Lamington National Park, will there be a central meeting place and a TIME for said meet or do we do our own thing. I am OK for the 17th April

What time is the meet? I have a few things to do Sunday before hand and just want to get organised so i can be there. 11am?

I'm keen for an early start if anyone else wants to join me. By 'early' I mean getting there before 8.00am. Happy to meet others later but I really want to make use of early morning lighting situations. How about you Xerubus?

If I come it will have to be an overnighter for me due to the distance to travel. Can we please set a time and a meeting place so I can see what I need to arrange?

Hi everyone,

The earlier the better for me as I am going to try and attend a photography seminar that afternoon as well. A dawn start sounds good (or just after) but then I don't know the area at all so am not sure of the best time to be there.

Just out of curiosity how long does it take to get from say Brisbane to the park and what sort of things will we be shooting, fungi, rainforest etc or more landscapes.

Regards
Steve

sorry about the late replies to this thread guys.

i think the earlier the better ... morning light will be wonderful at lamington.

my vote is we meet at 0700-0800 somewhere near lamington and we convoy from there. if anyone is after a lift please holla. i can fit a couple of people in an escape i will be driving that day.

i will organise where and what track at lamington will be good shortly... just a tad busy atm...

cheers

Meeting at Canungra (maybe outside the pub) might be the go?

I will probably stay at Binna Burra o/night - so happy to meet any time from 7:15 on .... say at the top parking area where the shop and restaurant are.

Cheers,

How about outside Canungra Hotel, 7.30am?

I think enough of us know each other to form a recognisable 'group' for those we haven't as yet met. I assume at least one of us will be wearing a D70 Users polo shirt.

I suggest those that are meeting at this point let us know so we know how many we're waiting on.

Craig: If you and Diana aim for 8.00am at the top end of the O'Reilly's carpark we will either meet you there or come and grab you if Mark has chosen a track futher down the mountain prior to that point.

Clear as mud.

Mark, or anybody, please jump in anytime here if you have a different plan in mind.

Oneputt: Does this help with your arrangements John?

(We really need to get the plans clearly sorted out before the trip as , once we're in the area, mobile phone reception may be non-existent)

Simon, that sounds fine - 7.30 at the Canungra pub it is. I'll have my wife and kids with me, but they'll do their own thing when we get up the mountain.

Cheers
Peter

Still unsure if mine will come along - 7.30am is at least two hours before my eldest's preferred waking hour!

I'm up for 7.30a

xeburus mentioned a 'track' and driving an 'escape'. Is this an off road kinda adventure  or can we get to where we need to go on proper roads in a little car?

PostPosted: Tue Apr 12, 2005 8:58 am
by boxerboy
leigh999, road is sealed all the way to the top so no problems in your car. Plenty of walking tracks once we're at the top.

cheers
Peter

There are two roads to the top but the one most used is the fully sealed one from Canungra.

Duck Creek Road, which comes up from the western side, is an easy dirt track in the dry but may require 4WD after rain. It's got some great views along the way as well.

My wife informed me this morning that I have family commitments this weekend that I knew nothing about.

It is not often that I am able to get my whole family together so I am not about to disobey she who must be obeyed.

So I am afraid that I will not be there this weekend.
