Hello Big Pix
Thanks for the advance warning, though with my camera collection currently at 5, my wife would not appreciate me finding more....

Actually that reminds me - I have a very cheap flash unit. I can't remember the name - I put black tape over the brand name I was so emabrrassed.... I have not had the courage to try it on the D70 (it is dedicated Nikon) in case something goes wrong - I have heard of dangerous voltages surging into camera and blowing its brain.... any advice?

Cheers

Hi Gecko,

The Nikon max. voltage spec is a positive voltage of 250V on the centre pin (Manual P 186 - Negative voltages or voltages over 250 V applied to the accessory shoe could not only prevent normal operation, but damage the sync circuitry of the camera or flash.)

You can easily measure this if you have a multimeter.

Check this webpage for all sorts of flash unit specs http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html

Cheers

Thanks digitor

The flash in question is an Achiever 630AF

I have borrowed a digital multi-meter from work for the weekend, and checked out the website you recommended. I can't find any exact reference to the 630AF and general searches on the internet don't reveal any unful info about using it with the D70....

If not sure ....... don't /////it is a lot cheaper. The d70 book lets you know what flashers are compatible
