Made ya look!

The winner will be announced at the Sydney Christmas Dinner.

Chat with Birddog if you've not yet made your bookings for this night. It promises to be a fantastic evening.

Sorry, the dinner's at a Chinese restaurant.

That means spring rolls, not a drum roll.

To be honest, I'm more excited about the other aspects of the xmas meet, the least of which is the announcement of the challenge 2 winner. :)

Given the quality of the entries, I'd say *looks into crystal ball* the entry with the highest score will win! :D :D :D

MHD knows who the winner is, but it looks like he can't be bought, sold, prosecuted or tickled into giving the name of the winners or even a hint. Damn it!!!

But having said that, there are truely excellent entries all over the place, and my bet is that the result is quite close.

I can say we have all the best of the best challengers in this challenge No:2. I like all the photos and their spirits.
We have to find the sealed envelope with the winner's names in it hiding somewhere inside MHD's house. Top secret!, 3 more sleeps and we will all know.

It's a pretty amazing picture by any standards. I like Arek's Nature's Pattern a bit better though as far as this particular comp's subject is concerned. Both, I think, would be deserving winners (alongside myself of course). I'm truly in this for the passion though as the prize doesn't concern me (Canadian). I wonder if I can Sue the comp for discrimination against Canadians? (we suffer from slight inferiority complex).

WoooHooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And the winner is me, in less than 2 hours, Poon will arrive with my 200-400VR :D :D :D :D :D Santa is coming :D :D :D :D
I ordered and received the replacement foot for it yesterday from RRS, just about time!!!! Will fit on the RRS BH55 head straight away.
And the Epson P-2000 is shipped out from the US today by EMS.

Geoff, Jordan, please drop in early tomorrow to have a play with it before heading to the restaurant.

JordanP,
I ditched the 17-55dx maybe, I have 17-35 and 28-75, that will cover my range at this time.
I save my bucks for the 300/2.8VR by June, and perhaps the D2x, who know?

MHD
The 200-400VR slipped thru Sydney Airport in its original carry bag (similar backpack) and the boys in the blue shirt did not bother to it., I picked him and the lens up at the Airport

Congradulations to JordanP for winning the black and white challenge #2!
He won the Epson R800 printer, which he'll have to somehow lug back on the flight back home. ;)

Vicareyus came in second, and won a X-Drive Pro thingy, 40Gb portable storage.

MattK rounded up the prize winners, and scored a 1Gb CF card.

Everyone was a winner, with outstanding entries.

Look out for the next challenge, the topic of which JordanP has the privilledge of choosing.

I told JP last time he was here at my place to make a little space on his PC desk for a new printer.
I think the second challenge was a big success & every one learnt a few things along the way “I know I did”
Congratulations to Matt & Vicareyus for taking out second & third, Well deserved.

Gary & Birdy are the big winners in all this for making this one awesome forum 8)

Cheers

Congratulations to Craig, Vic, and Matt, for grabbing the top three spots in the challenge. The competition - the images presented - were of an excellent standard, and IMHO everyone who entered was a winner.

A great effort all round, and particular thanks to MHD for hosting the challenge - and the hard work he put in to this - and of course to Birddog for his generous contributions of the prizes to the placegetters.

Well done, everyone!

Just logged on from my fathers computer at Port Macquarie

33.6k modem and Win 98 (remember that?)

Congratulations to our very worthy winners Craig, Vic and Matt and congratulations to all of the other entrants for having a go and for making the voting decisions very difficult indeed.

Thanks also to Birdie for his generous donation of prizes and to Gary for making the forum possible in the first place. Thank you also to MHD for his exceptional management of the competition website.

Sounds like the Christmas dinner was a raging success - Not everyone could be there, but the 20% that were seemed to have a terrific time and I'm sure those that were there celebrated a little extra for those that couldn't be.

Cheers

Perhaps jordanP would be kind enough to write a review of the printer after he has spent some time trying it out. I think we'd all be kind of interested in his opinion.

Well, I'm back home and on-ling again.

Mattk and others interested,

I would be happy to write a review on the printer after I give it a bit of a workout. May not get to it until 2005 though.

I said it on the night, but for all those that weren't there. I'd like to again publicly thank Birddog for his generous prizes, MHD for hosting the competition, Gary and Leigh again for the existance of the forum, and Geoff & Bell who so very kindly hosted me over the weekend. I'm only reinforcing what others have said, but I think all that entered did a fantastic job. Xerberus, that was one heck of a challenge topic - well done for making us all have to think so hard - and further develop our photography skills.

Thanks to all who took the time to vote. They fell pretty well as I expected...except for my image which I thought would be a little too tranquil to make the grade. For the technocrats amongst you, the image was taken from the passenger seat of a speeding Volvo...(no, that is not a contradiction) using shutter priority. Got 3 frames off before the image was behind me.
Thanks for the memory Birddog...I suspect I might now explore shooting in RAW more often. Congratulations again to the deserved winners. Well done, photographers!
