Think I might go to Lady macquaries chair and photograph the boat/ship this evening. I believe it is leaving at around 1900hrs.

Maybe some of you would like to wander on over?

Sydney Ports does have it listed for a 19.00 hr departure on Friday 17th, but Cunard's website gives a 14.00 hr departure time. Not sure which one is correct, but I would go with Cunard's time and plan to be at Circular Quay to take a few shots at 14.00. I also want to get a shot tonight, but with the thunderstorm not sure if it will work out. Check my website after 21.00 to see :-)

Just confirmed with Sydney Ports the QE2 departs at 2.00pm today.
At least that reduces the likelihood of a storm intervening

Just confirmed the same thing myself Ray. Only problem is that the Opera House forecourt area & surrounds will be closed off at that time due to Kerry Packer memorial service. So not a good spot to get shots from. I am thinking of Kirribilli side, at least the sun will be somewhat to the rear from there.

Cheers,
Paul.

Paul, just be sure it really departs then. A friends parents went on a cruise with 11am departue, I dropped them at the wharf at 9am, they rang me from just before the heads at about 4pm!

Glen, I guess not even aircraft depart on time anymore, so a big ocean liner might take it's time. However they will have a pilot organised to take them out plus high tide is at 12.00 so there is certain amount of time they have to depart within. I only have an hour or so to hang around so I live in hope. :)

Paul.

Paul, hope it is ok, like you I assumed liners departed in a timely manner, was stunned when they rang me having cocktails in the afternoon. (Was also stunned at the lines of people and luggage to load). I have no idea, but wouldn't extend my lunch hour in the hope they are on time  The high tide does seem to confirm that time. Good luck

Can you hold her there until 1700hrs? I'm still at work. Just dig your toes into the sand and you'll be right. :D :D :D
