Where: Mures' car park, Constitution Dock

Follow-up / post-shoot meet same date/location at 9am - head into Mures' Lower Deck for w-w-w-warmth, c-c-c-coffee and chimping.

Depending what the day is like we could always head up to a small waterfall I know just out of Hobart and do some waterfalls as well

I wish I could come too. Stuck in Sunny Qld for the day, but I am coming to Hobart in February for the Australian Wooden Boat Festival which only occurs every two years and was wondering about if we could organise a mini meet for this event.

They have a mess of tall ships coming along with all manner of historic boats and nautical themes. The makings of many thousands of fabulous images all contained in one location.
How about it you Tassie shooters? You have time to get it organised. I, for one would be looking for advice on some accommodation locations for a couple of weeks around the place and where to shoot etc.
I have been looking forward to this for ten years!

The Wooden Boat Festival is from 9th - 12th Feb 2007 and you will have to wait two years for another chance.

Charter the Lady Nelson (caution: World's Worst Website) for a coupla nights close by the event and head down D'Entrecasteaux Channel to Port Arthur?
I'm (*very*) not sure, but the website seems to imply that 2 nights 7pm - 4pm would cost $2500 with max 10 pax = $250 per head.
Easy enough to check if folk're interested.

But if that's too adventurous, yep, we can definitely organise a land-based meet or two.

As to the Wooden Boats Festival - we may want to check with the organisers what their attitude is towards photographers / photography. I've vague memories of friends complaining they were mistreated. (Might've been something else tho - t'was a while back.)

This sounds like it could be a great exercise. I was at the last one with my DRebel and didnt have any problems at all in regards to the organisers/officials. But times change and so do peoples reactions to cameras these days.

Well southern members and friends, sorry to say I will not be there in the morning.
Cost of petrol among other things (not least of which is the weather forecast). And the fact that I am here in front of the computer at 11:10 pm the night before a 7am start (with 3 hours travel needed)

FYI Wodden boat festival dates look like they somewhat co-incide with Regatta Day in Hobart. If you are coming for the wooden boats, you'll love the Regatta!

Hobart City Council may have more info on that.
