Okay folks. All those who said they would not miss this event this year, raise your hands. On the 22nd-23rd September, the Coolum Kite Festival is on again http://www.coolumkitefestival.com/view_content.asp watch the YouTube movie there

This is a visual spectacular and really should not be missed. The Saturday is a real family day with a night show and the Sunday is a real big thing with truly international kites some stretching over ten metres long.

Not long to organise your holidays or sick days (as the case may be)

Thanks for the heads up, I will be at Twin Waters Resort for a week from the Saturday so I might have to head up and have a look.

G'day Col,
Is this a 'free for all'? Or do you have to register as a pitchertaker? :D No info on their site that I could find. Sure looks like a big event.
Cheers
Chad

Chad it is a free for all literally, but because it is spread over several days there are no hassles. A mid length lens (up to 200mm) is an advantage.

Thanks John,
I've just committed to a new body, so may have to add a 1.4TC to the 105 in the meantime. :D (The Sigma 70-300 will NEVER be attached to my camera again. )

Hey brother, you ain't the only one, but every time I look in the mirror, there is the same old body I had before. :( :(
But this is a premiere event and no mistake, so do not miss it. BTW folks bring your kite too. If you have little kids, the waterhole behind the main beach is safe as houses and right under the action.

We are looking at coming up on the Saturday (we being the family) I'll definitely be bringing the camera along. Should be a great day for the boy to run amuck on the beach :)

Saturday is a good day with lots happening, but the big day for the mega kites is Sunday. Sat. is still worth doing right into the evening though. This beach is huge and really safe especially when the tide is out. A great family venue

BTW, for those that want to make a weekend of it, you could take in the annual Noosa Classic Car show which is on again a little earlier than usual on Sunday, 23rd September. See separate post.
