It will be the very last V8 Supercars event before Oran Park becomes a residential estate. Booo!!

I think with the number of people that will be out there, you need to grab any spot you can. Typically the bottom part of the course is less crowded and offers better oppotunities for some shot making. Fav spots are the end of the main straight (turn 2), near the kart track grandstand (turns 3 & 4) and turn 9. Oh and don't forget the pit and merchandising areas for the non car shots. Should be a great weekend. Hopefully the predicted rain does not eventuate.

This is true, but it is the last time for the V8's unfortunately. Not happy that they are going to Homebush next year.

Oran Park is a great track to shoot at when you don;t have a Media pass. - Provided you can get to the fenceline..

I shot the dutton Rally there just recently and even though I had full access (inside and outside the track) I think some of the best shots are available close to the fenceline.

Depending on the direction of the light you can get great shots anywhere on the western side of the track (upper side of the above pic)
Check them out as they come into and exit Shell Corner, the Dogleg, and down into the last corner before coming back onto the straight. Wandering around the back of the Kart track (with a decent 300mm to 400mm) will get you some great shots as they come under the bridge and with around 200mm you can get great shots as they come into and exit out of the Go Kart main straight. The exit is especially rewarding as you can get some great 'air' under the wheels as they bounce through the undulations in the track as they make the turn onto the small run to the bridge.

if you want some samples - check out the PCNSW images and Dutton Rally NSW 2008 images on my site at http://www.motorsportfotos.com

BUT, as I said, if the V8 Stupid cars are running - good luck getting close to the fence :(
