Continuing with the sunrises for one more W/E, this week it is Sunrise with a difference - over the city.

Where; in the city probably near Circular Quay, looking to get some iconic strutcures at a different hour
Time; latest 5:30am I will be there at 5:15am

It will be a pretty short one for me since I only have a few hours on saturday and I need to be home before 9.

If your keen and around, drop me a PM - I will deal with teh flood of PM's later tonight :up: :up:

Get in now since it will probably be the last for awhile until the clocks change :rotfl2:

Dude I don't know whether I'd allowed to have too many excursions so not sure. I will message you if I change my mind.

What does Skippy say?

biggerry wrote:it will probably be the last for awhile until the clocks change

I thought the clocks are going forward one hour? From 3 Oct the sunrise is at 0630. Much more sensible. :wink:

Nice one Gerry.

I guess that's +1 for Skippy. (or +2 as it was right 2 weekends ago)

#2 is quite nicely composed with the lines etc and plenty of elements. Easily a postcard that would sell.

I like how you get those blues to contain some yellows... Can you bring your laptop to NC so we can have a bit of post processing fun? :wink:

man ray, you have caught me out, I had them all fooled with that ship being cloned out and all!

That ship does fill the space quite nicely there - the image is actually nice and sharp but you neeed to click on it due to the forum resizer.

Gerry
It's simply a case of the D700 resolving more detail :wink:

Actually the D80 with it's 10MP DX CCD has more resolving power than the D700 with its 12MP FX CMOS due to the higher pixel density and smaller pixel pitch.....

:shock:
Does that mean that the D80 can produce sharper shots when enlarged as compared to the D700?

In the ideal conditions yes. The D700 cropped down to DX is a shade under 6MP so comparatively the D80 has more resolution, and will produce sharper, more detailed shots when enlarged, provided the D700 shot is enlarged from a DX crop.....

Dude, Whoever said about the D700 being used in a DX mode? I thought we are comparing native to native.... I am sure Ray didn't use DX mode to capture the above image??

Even in native, the D80 is not far behind the D700 in resolving power, 12mp vs 10mp

Thanks Cameron for the clarification.

Gerry, Can you see those halos that I was talking about? Both images but more on #2 on the left upper buildings. Are those jpg monsters or can you see that in the raw?

have had a quick look, I cannot see anything that I would attribute to the GND

here's an example from that morning.

final processed image;

Image

crop around the GND line;

Image

you can see a faint halo around the back vertical of the building, however I suspect that is the PP

to be sure, next is a crop of the original raw file;

Image

Remind me later and I will have a closer look at some other images too.

Thanks for posting these!

Well that's the halo I was talking about. I think it's because of the grad which is accentuated by the tonal contrast. It is much less apparent in the RAW but still seem there; Or am I seeing things? :wink:
