New Years Eve Sydney FireworksI gave NYE fireworks a miss last year, however I am pretty keen to have a crack for 2010/2011. I have a few locations that I am thinking of (Balmain is one) but if anyone else is keen to hook up let me know. It's gotta be within pushbike distance of newtown cause I ain't gonna battle road closures etc.
Anyone have any good little secret spots they want to share? gerry's photography journey

Re: New Years Eve Sydney Fireworks I read the post from 2008!
I will be in Neutral Bay on a friends roof. I doubt I will take the camera for fireworks shots though. I don't know whether it offers a good foreground etc; probably not though. Good luck with your endeavours. It will be tough to battle those crowds for a good spot though. You may need to turn up hours in advance and plonk your tripod down early. Just hold that bladder....
Re: New Years Eve Sydney FireworksAnyone been to Ballast point or Balls head Reserve for NYE? any experiences to share?

Re: New Years Eve Sydney Fireworks
I've been at Blues Point and Balls Head for NYE before and both are great locations. One thing to note with Balls Head reserve is that if you are down the bottom (near the water) then the trees can tend to get in the way unless you're in the right spot or right down the front above the waters edge. If you are up the top then it's a little more open and as it's much higher you get great views around the harbour and you get great views of the ones in Darling Harbour as well (if they do them this year?) however unless you are in a clear area you might again find trees a problem. Both of the clearings on Balls Head are not particularly large so bear that in mind. I'm actually going to be a North Sydney Pool this year (just at the foot of the north end of the harbour bridge) - up on the rooftop terrace hopefully. I am planning to take my tripod and D90 but probably only my 18-200mm lens and will try my luck with my first ever D-SLR fireworks shots.
