Hey chaps (and ladies), I have been in the mind to revisit Stanwell tops and that area with the specific purpose of doing a sunrise for quite sometime, hence I am going to try and make an effort to get down there either the weekend before christmas or just after. My plan is to do a sunrise, yes that means a very early start, followed by morning light on the stanwell tops then visiting Kellys falls which is up in Stanwell tops. This will be a morning affair and hopefully be on the way back home by lunch. Sunrise location is yet to be decided, I have done the seacliff bridge before so I will probably try another location, possibly a bit further south, the gliders and meatbombers will provide some entertainment, as they always do at the lookout at Stanwell top. Kelly's falls is a fairly small falls from what I can see but is easy access and its in the area so why not check it out. If anyone is keen let me know..

I very nearly bought a house at Stanwell Park back in the late 1970's In those days it hadn't been discovered & places could be had at normal "well out of Sydney" prices. From memory they were asking AUD27,000 I like #1. Is this "true" colour or did you tweak it?

hey Whitey, long time no hear, get those safari shots processed and a few posted, there are plenty of animal photographers here that can give you lots of good advice. Wink wrote:These are great Gerry. I wouldn't expect any less though. PS: You still shit me! Lol!
haha, yeah you shit me with your light painting images too makes my stuff look like childs play aim54x wrote:Great stuff Gerry! You were saying we didnt miss much? These looks awesome!
It was a pretty stellar sunrise, i also had a really good morning overall, there is lots to see and shoot down there - will have to do it again soon. In tehr meantime, I am probably gonna head up teh mountains soon and do some waterfalls now that there is still plenty of water around, possibly bridal veil or something similiar. Is this "true" colour or did you tweak it? 27K, i was so born in teh wrong era...oh well.. with regard to the colour of teh sunrise ones, there is very little tweakage going on, the predawn colours were pretty intense. The initial colours before the golds came out were nice pascal purples and blues. These were taken with only the 0.6 lee GND so there is no colour cast from them. If you do a search for bronte images or even just Sundays sunrise images in sydney you will see the colour was pretty awesome up there too.

I'm sorry I didn't make it down there (I havn't been online much lately - so incredibly busy with end of school year stuff with my girls - mostly with my eldest who finished primary this year) - I didn't see the date for this until after it was over Hopefully I'll be able to make it to the next trip down there. Really nice colour in those sunrise shots Gerry - good cloud action too, love the inclusion of the no diving sign on the last In the waterfall image I find that branch and leaves at the top (blurred) a bit distracting - perhaps they could go? With #4 perhaps you could consider cropping more of that boring top off?

Looks like you got lucky ....I'd want some guarantee before I'd drive halfway to Melbourne at that time of the morning. The sky colour and the pool setting reminds me of that morning at North Curl Curl..awesome. #1 Not sure about the positioning of the rail. I reckon it would be better if it ran from right to left leading the eye to the sunrise or brightest part of the image. #2 Nice leading line with the pool edge and compo.. but c'mon, straighten the pool posts #3 Same deal with the posts...maybe they are leaning afterall . Eye gets a bit stuck on the no-diving sign #4 Those green rocks are like a magnet Like the patterns created by the water movement. Nicely done #5 Looks like you got your feet wet. Be inclined to remove the blurred whatever in the middle top otherwise top shot. Content aware tool should do the job

no probs, I almost did not go, life can be like tryign align planets atm. Remorhaz wrote:Hopefully I'll be able to make it to the next trip down there.
plenty of other sessions coming up i reckon, i am gonna do a star trail session (practice really) pretty soon and definitely want to get up the mountains for some more waterfalls.. Remorhaz wrote:Really nice colour in those sunrise shots Gerry - good cloud action too, love the inclusion of the no diving sign on the last
ya either love or hate the sign, i actually really like them Remorhaz wrote:In the waterfall image I find that branch and leaves at the top (blurred) a bit distracting - perhaps they could go?
yeah good point, i would prolly go with anotehr compo anyway Remorhaz wrote:With #4 perhaps you could consider cropping more of that boring top off?
nice one, cropping just above the second row of house does concentrate the eye more on the good green stuff. Jenno wrote:Looks like you got lucky ....I'd want some guarantee before I'd drive halfway to Melbourne at that time of the morning. lucky... thats half the fun, there is no guarantee, plus, 50 minute drive, no further than whale beach really (time wise) I may actually revisit those north curl curl image, I wa snever happy with teh processing of them...cheers for reminding me Jenno wrote:#1 Not sure about the positioning of the rail. I'll have word to the council about that one and get it repositioned, probably easier than moving the sun position But yes I see your point, duly noted Jenno wrote:#2 Nice leading line with the pool edge and compo.. but c'mon, straighten the pool posts
Jenno wrote:#3 Same deal with the posts...maybe they are leaning afterall . Eye gets a bit stuck on the no-diving sign
i think the posts were crooked, well thats what i am gonne say .. regards teh diving sign, you eitehr love it or hate it I reckon... Jenno wrote:#4 Those green rocks are like a magnet Like the patterns created by the water movement. Nicely done
I waited a good 15 minutes for the right wave to come and nail that...I just wish I was there when the sun was a bit better, the colour died in teh ass after the initial predawn colour action. Jenno wrote:#5 Looks like you got your feet wet. Be inclined to remove the blurred whatever in the middle top otherwise top shot. Content aware tool should do the job
took me shoes off and went for a dip, had to be carefull tho, a few metres behind was the REAL waterfall which was a about 20 times the size of that dinky little one.
