Best price for a D90 in Perth?

Postby Manic311 on Mon Oct 06, 2008 12:53 am

Hey all, looking at buying a D90 body by this time next month and wondering what the best camera store is? Camera House have always been a bit pricey IMO. I just need to sell my D40 and I should have enough dough for a D90 xD

Some of the stores near the City like Camera Electronic, PRA Imaging or Plaza Cameras may negotiate a good deal for you. Steering away from the Camera Houses is probably good advice although some are better than others.

Frequently (but not always) you can save money by going mail order to Australian suppliers like DD Photographics and others or overseas mail order houses like HK Supplies, B&H, Adorama etc.

Work out exactly what you want and choose the combination of service, support, price etc that suits your needs.

Yes I have... How much tax would I pay if I imported a $1300 body?

GST: 10% for shipments over $1000.
But once the value of the item goes over AU$1000, the 10% GST is payable on BOTH the item and the shipping.

So $130 plus 10% of the shipping cost.

Thanks for that, I actually found a very good deal on ebay and it's shipped from over east and it's under $1300.

My next question is, are there any camera shops in Perth that will buy used equipment? I was thinking more like trading-in my D40 kit and putting the credit towards the D90 that way there is no hassle like on ebay.

regards.

Its worth checking out ebay as a selling option. I was offered $180 as a trade in on my 350D when I bought a D90, but I put it on ebay and got over $700. Just my thoughts :-)
