HELP - files delting after transferring

Postby rookie2 on Fri Oct 28, 2005 12:28 am

somehow (in sleep deprived state) I have set a 'delete all files after transferring' option on my card reader (San disk Image Mate)

I have tried to find what the simple answer to this one is by reading the sandisk 6 in 1 reader guide but no luck there or through the threads here

where can I undo this? (in XP? CS2? ...I've got a lot to learn)

MANY MANY THANKS for your help and understanding

cheers

The setting will be in your transfer software so you need to tell us what you're using. eg if you're using Nikon Transfer, you click the tools icon in the top of the dialog to display the Transfer Options dialog, then click the Transfer tab and the first entry is a check box to delete after transfer.

that's my problem...I'm not sure what program is transfering my files - I just hook up the card reader insert CF & they download into 'my documents' where I open them.
Image transfer is on my PC for my Sony files but for my D70 I can only find Nikon Capture 4 (trial version)- got rid of Picture Project..other possible software embedded in CS2?
sorry for my ignorance!

thanks

OK While they are transferring you should see a dialog box. WHile that's happening hold down the Ctrl and Alt keys then hit and release the PrtScrn or Print Screen key. The release the other keys. On the clipboard should be a picture of the dialog box. Paste it into a new graphics document (eg in paintbrush or Photoshop), save the image and post it here for us to look at.

I have just fiddled around taking a new batch of shots downloading checking and then doing a repeat lot of shots - and naturally - files are now NOT deleting each time - there is still no dialogue box coming up during transfer so I will let you good man get on to better and more worthwhile discussions with more deserving members on this site.
sleep is calling and I am sure in the morning I will work out what MY problem is....I am not blaming any of the gear...ignorance is no excuse but I struggle with the basics of IT

thanks for the help stubbsy!!
