Adelaide Zoo - sad news...While at the Zoo for a few hours this morning, I came across Tour Guide's and asked them, what has happened to the male African Lion . Sadly he passed away suddenly a few weeks ago from a twisted spleen. Apparently he was 7-8 years old. The remaining two females seemed very lonely and sad.

Fozzie,
sad news for these lionesses to lose their partner. Two great photos here. The second one is especially nice. I like the way you have captured it with the paw oof and the face in focus. Cheers, André Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Ansel Adams
(misc Nikon stuff)
That's terrible. I remember a few weeks back wondering where he was. Didn't think much of it. Very sad.

radar/Andre - the second shot was the pick of the crop from this morning, due to the very reason you like. Thank you.

Matt. K - thank you. Yes I do like the Big Cats , there is just something about them that draws me in. The male Lion will be sorely missed, and I would imagine it will take a long time to replace him, in view of his sudden passing.

Very nice shots there.
Did you have to shoot through a glass window? I went to the zoo today and wasn't happy shooting through the dirty/scratched windows ---
Equipment: camera body, wide lens, standard lens, telephoto lens, flash Wish list: skill
adam - these shots were taken through black painted cyclone wire fence.
I find when shooting through glass, that you need to have the lens hood hard up against the glass to stop reflection and preferably a scratch free area. Or if on a angle when shooting, use your spare hand to cover the gap between the lens hood and the glass. Best of luck next time.
