Human Zoo exhibit

Went into the Adelaide Zoo today to see the Human Zoo. (A group of humans are locked in a primate exhibit)

First the Humans.

...and one of the primates getting micro-chipped by the vet.

The vet tending to a wounded human.

Shooting the humans was very hard today (glass cage, hard lighting) and they were actually very boring. The vet coming was interesting but they didn't do things so the audience could see. A bit disappointing. I wouldn't recommend rushing in to see them.

DanielA - a pity it was not more interesting.

I am more than likely going to the Zoo this coming Sunday morning @ 9:30am, so I will give this area a miss, and just go and see my normal subjects, the 'BIG CATS' :D

This is bogus!

How many other exhibits at a zoo are permitted to wear adornments such as clothing? Surely they be in a more "natural" manner? :)

That is very interesting, yet very strange!
It reminds me of the Urban Dream Capsule that I saw in Langham Place, in Hong Kong December 2005 (apparently they go around the world!). All I saw were these four bald men dancing in a glass box. I was thinking "wow! entertainment! bald men dancing in a glass box in the middle of a shopping centre", so that's how they get entertainment!". It was like a zoo :P

This human zoo is interesting :O What do the humans do all day? Do they have internet access? and as Gary said, why are they wearing clothes?

Hi Fozzie. You should still go past them, but just don't expect to take many shots. I don't know where the tigers were yesterday, I didn't see either of them.

No others animals, but given the participants it's probably for the best. Now, if it was supermodels gone wild...
Given the number of school groups and kids going past everything has to be G-rated. Although there were some borderline comments when the vet suggested giving the females "contraceptive implants"...

No internet, no TV, no newspapers. But they go home at night so I expect they all cheat. They are there all day (for a week) and they have various tasks to do, vet checks and some "behavioural enrichment activities" (like the other primates sometimes get, but here actually just appear to be games). You can see the concept here. You can also watch them via webcams here.

Me thinks I shall join Fozzie on sunday but the 9.30 start will be a challenge. Hopefully the tigers will be out and about and we will have a look at these humans as well...
