I have just returned from shooting at the Zoo, and the word is that the Lion is presently in Quarantine and could be released in coming weeks :)

--- Edit ---

Three shots of the same 'Sumatran Tiger' from Saturday afternoon:

Last one is my favourite :)

robw25 - I am working that day :(

I must confess, yes it is my second home. I feel very comfortable there, and what makes it bliss, is that there are no females that can talk

Good news! I might have to pop in when he gets out. He will probably be nice and active until he gets used to the place.

Hi,
so that's what the front of our tigers look like ! I was beginning to think they were both stuffed .. after several trips and long waits all I have are bums and the backs of heads
Excellent shots (as always) love the eye contact in #3
I'm now encouraged to persevere and can't wait until they take to the water .
The small birds in the walk in avery are starting to nest at the moment so some lovely opportunities if you have the time

Have fun PS I love the zoo because of the intelligent male company

DebT - best time to be there is between 2:45 - 4:30pm. I have always managed to get a few shots (side on) in for between 10-20 minutes.

#3 ifor me Fozzie

beautiful colors and wonderful expression..a little bit of greenery behind her and this would be perfect (in IMHO)

(looks like she's popped a blood vessel in her Right eye...too much partying maybe?)

great work again

cheers

The new male Lion is located in the enclosure next to the Persian Leopard.

He is 2 years old and weigh 120 kilos. His welcome to Adelaide Zoo from Mogo Zoo was castration during the week, ouch. I am no sure whether this is the correct spelling of his name, but sounds like 'Majarbee'.

Next week one of the Lioness's will be isolated in the cage next to him for orientation. Then providing all goes well, in approximately 6 weeks things will be back to normal, one male and two females together :)

Here are some shots from today. I do apologise for the quality of shots, as the wire fence has missing black paint and the sun was reflecting of the wire at times:

It's great to hear he's out-and-about now. He looks like a good specimen.

Great shots Fozzie. I can't really see the fence... I guess the f/2.8 will do that. :D
