G'day. Newbie alertHi to all.
I joined the forums last week, but have been watching off and on for a while. It's nice to find a place that is focussed on Australia. I'm a hobby photographer of some years, I should be good at it by now but there is always something new to learn and something to save up for. Currently shooting Canon and landscape/nature is where my passion lies, with a bit of travel thrown in. I like to go bush, especially multiday hikes, never seem to get enough of that. In between times, and when it isn't too hot, I spend as much time as I can tramping around the Adelaide hills, especially the Waterfall Gully area as it's close to home. During winter I'm often up early on a sunday and on my way up from the kiosk to Mt Lofty and back to keep fit and ready for the yearly trip to the snow with the family. The highlight of last year for me was doing the Overland Track late march. I'm hoping to get over to Tas again later in the year and have a look around the Tarkine and perhaps the Walls of Jerusalem if I can stretch the time enough. A couple of images: Near Pelion, on the Overland Track: Second Falls, Waterfall Gully: Adelaide Lightning Storm: That was a lucky capture, I was making a timelapse of the sunset when things started happening. There's a small (1.2mb) movie of the timelapse here Kaikoura Jetty, NZ: Lastly, I'd like to make a special mention for a dear and inspirational friend Kay Gordon, who recently passed away. She was a driving force in my rediscovery of photography some years back and I owe her a lot for that and her ongoing interest and support. She reached 97 and was vitally interested in photography, especially AV's right until the end. May she rest in peace. C&C Welcome. Michael

Re: G'day. Newbie alertThat lightning photo is stunning. It's great to have a wider shot that gets both bolts in. It's great. Well done!
Re: G'day. Newbie alertHi there Michael. You've got some fantastic images there. Like the lightning one especially.

As Colin has said Chris

Re: G'day. Newbie alertThanks for the welcome and the comments.
The last shot basically picked up it's blueness on it's own. Its a 15 second/F8 exposure after dusk with the camera balanced on a crate. We went for a short drive to have a look around and settle the kids after dinner. The closer we came to the jetty area the more amazing the light became. When we got there, I stopped the car and fished out the camera, no way I was going to leave without some photos, tripod or no tripod. "Sorry dear, won't be long" Thank heavens for understanding spouses... Michael
Re: G'day. Newbie alertgood day michael, same newbie here as well.
