'Adelaide Meet # 5' - Fleurieu Peninsula...

Sunday 31 July 2005. Starting at perhaps Myponga Beach and working our way down to Cape Jervis. This area was suggested by 'Big V' at 'Adelaide Meet #4' and also timing from memory. At Second Valley there used to be weathered boat sheds, and certainly ruggered coast line. Perhaps even have a look inland near Second Valley Forest for bird life without walking the trails.

http://www.fleurieupeninsula.com.au/mic ... asp?id=334
http://www.southaustraliantrails.com/tr ... p?id=14000
Expression of interest is sought.
Edit:
Coming: Big 'V', robw25 (from Whyalla: 200-400VR man), Jenko and me (fozzie).
Possible: Marvin (will advise later).

Sorry about being end of July and not June. June would be just too close to last Meet, Sunday 29 May. If you are still going to be in town (am)Sunday 3 July I can link up with you for some shooting of your choice. PM me either way down the track.
BTW: hope things go well with the Doctor's
Looking into the future, I am currently working on a 'Meet' at the end of October at Gluepot, located 1.5 hrs north of Waikerie :

Yup, I can only agree. No great wines in Queensland (some are acceptable), but we do have the Great Barrier Reef, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast

Suggest meeting at Myponga Beach at 9-9:30am.
I will have the 'D70Users.com' banner drapped across the the back window of the car, can not be missed.
A taste of what is there:
http://www.fleurieuphotos.com/Myponga%20Beach.html
I have also sent an e-mail to the 'South Australian Hang Gliding, Paragliding and Microlighting' to see if they will be conducting any Hang Gliding around Myponga area on 31 July, 2005.
I will edit this post when a reply is received.

Another stop off point, Second Valley:
http://www.picknowl.com.au/homepages/wd ... 2041cc.htm
Then Cape Jervis. I do not know whether this is possible, but would be a very interesting excursion, plus excellent photo shot opportunities:

Deep Creek Conservation Park
Located 120 km south of Adelaide and 8 km south of Delamere and east of Cape Jervis, Deep Creek Conservation Park is a 4030 hectare park. It is an interesting combination of
steep cliffs, waterfalls, bush and coast inhabited by western grey kangaroos, blue wrens, yellow-tailed black cockatoos, wedge-tailed eagles and scarlet robins.

Hi Fozzie!
Once again, you have done a terrific job of organising a meet. I am not sure whether or not I will make it - we have just driven back from Mt Buller and I probably need to get some work done next weekend (although it will depend on how I am feeling!). If not, we'll definitely be at the next one! Not so far to come. If I don't make it, try to be nice to Big V - he's such a sensitive soul!

Hope you and the family had a great time skiing the slopes of Mount Buller.
Where are the shots
. Don't want to put you under any pressure
It would be really great if you could make it, but I do understand if you don't. Yes: next Meet is almost in your backyard
Be nice to 'Big V' not likely, as he is big enough to look after himself.
Plus he is from the darkside, C*n*n 300D or may be 20D by now
BTW: I sent another e-mail this morning to the 'South Australian Hang Gliding Association' re possible flying on 31 July. If I do not receive a reply by mid next week, I will ring someone listed on their website.

Hahahaha! Breaking News
Canon users is going to take over the population of Nikon users in DSLRUSER.COM/ SA chapter.
Fozzie,
Recruiting strategy: Nikon want you!!!!!!!!!

This is excellent news, Robert is most welcomed.
Now let me see:
Canon Users: Big V, Jenko, and may be Robert.
Nikon Users: robw15, and fozzie.
Marvin we are out numbered, and therefore need your help
I have not been able to get hold of the SAHGA, due to personal reasons and work commitments re hang gliding in the area for Sunday. Although I am a definite starter for Sunday.

Sorry Fozzie, you'll just have to hold up your end without me. Don't worry, they've only got the equivalent of one brain between them - I'm mostly talking about Robert and Big V. I'm sure you can out think and talk them!
Have a great time!

Hmmm...interesting comment.
If that is so, we have an even number
Irrespective it should be a good day even if the Meet is 3:2 in Canon DSLR favour

Had a very successful day at yesterday's meet, plus the weather was fantastic
I am currently going through my shots and this one took my fancy:
This is one of our members, robw25 with his 200-400VR waiting for a mermaid to appear
Thank you to:
Canon Users: 'Big V' - Tony, 'Jenko' - Ian and Rob.
Nikon Users - robw25.
Special memtion to 'Jenko' for his navigation skills. Could not have done it without your local knowledge. Also 'Big V' for leading us to the bakery for lunch.

Yesterday was a great day! There was enough variety to keep every body happy and the weather was a bonus and the Nikon users were able to take the flack from the Canon users
Here is the shot of the workings of the wind turbine to settle the argument about how many bolts..
Here is Rob looking for some food for the mermaid..
I would not want to drive down here..
These wind turbines are huge..
We even saw some insects...
You have to love the rustic nature of the beach..
