PSC - Open Day

Made my way to PSC (Photography Studies College) open day. Lots of interesting stuff. They had students' work exhibition inside, course advisors, dark room inspection and studio display with a model shoot happening at the time. Looked like an interesting course, both part- and full-time courses are available. Fees are a bit expensive. First year they tech film photography only, digital is not touched until year 2. Would love to enrol part-time. Price is of concern....

I studied at PSC a few years back and fully recommend it.

iam with nmit, theres a couple of psc dropouts in our part time class.
there very little theory, a very hands on approach to things. we get to do a little digital in 2nd semester 1st year.
we also have a exhibition this wednesday, come by and have a look.

one psc student was hammered by the nmit teacher when asked about aperatures in related to dof, had no idea what he was talking about even though that person was at psc for at least a year. scary.
that person also dropped out of our class, i wonder what set it off?

No, they have pay-as-you-go scheme as well. $350 a week for the duration of semester plus $500 upon enrolment.. This amounts to about $1900 per semester. But still....

Could you let me know more about the nmit course? What is it? A website may be? Is it at RMIT?

No I did 2 years. I moved to England for a year and had to chuck it in.

Its the main reason I paid as I studied so I could be flexible and not loose my cash.

It isnt cheap and that doesnt include your materials etc. They also do weekend workshops that you must attend at Chewton (Castlemaine).

It was worth it and I loved every minute of it. I guess its what you put into it that gets the results. We had some students who's parents paid for them and they didnt care less.

I'd be interested in the NMIT course and what is involved. P/T??

I dont have the disposable cash I had back when I studied at PSC, but I wouldn't mind learning more.

I still have all my notes that I took from PSC if anyone is interested. I might be able to copy them somehow...

I paid around 1400-1600 a year for my 3-4 years at National Art School...

well thats what i was told in order to "save" paying more money in the short term was to pay upfront. anyway, keep in mind that they expected you to purchase your own camera gear (lf, mf) to use than let you borrow their equipment. i think they didn't have any on site to borrow.

how much at nmit??

i'am payin about 800~ for the year part time. but you can get consessions discount with healthcard.
keep in mind that you need at least a 35mm camera, film, paper and other nick nacks to get started for the year.
you can borrow their equipment(mf,LF and dslr) to do shoots and other stuff
