Based on advice from yesterday, my wife asked me to write down a list of all the things I would like to have and what I need... lenses, tripods, bags etc and approx cost.... Cant wait for Xmas... yay!

Be sure you write in a clause to let you tweak the list over time (even if it's "supervised tweaking" ). It's not unreasonable to develop the list over time as you learn things. And believe it or not, getting it all at once can be a problem. Getting things on your list gradually can be good, as you learn from experience and often tweak the list as a result.

By the way, the only gear I let makario play with was a 580EX flash (I waved his flash around as a slave). I just wanted to be clear on that.
