best entry point for canon DSLR camera 2013

Hi ,I am about to buy my first DSLR for general subject matter .landscape and people. I have had the canon 7D in my sights with the 17-55 mm f2.8, but am now very confused. Is the 7D an awesome camera with not so awesome IQ. there is this never ending trade off of AF or ergonomics versus FF sensor ect. I live on the coast and want a camera that will take great landscapes, portraites and still be able to snap subjects in motion. budget will stretch to 2.5k if must .Would the 7D do all this for me at around $1000 for body or better to step straight up to a 5Dmk2 or 6D and learn with some primes and save for zooms

Hi Michael:

Firstly, welcome to the forum. As per the conditions of joining, you must include a genuine location in your profile eg town or suburb.

As for your question, if you are starting out, any DSLR is fine. I wouldn't spent over $1200 as the camera doesn't really matter in the final washup.

If you are set on Canon, the 60D is a good price point at the moment. A kit lens is fine for most things. Nikon has a similar setup with the D7000 etc.

No problems Michael.

P.S. My Magpies play the Cats tomorrow night. I'm not confident of a victory. In fact, I'll be happy with a loss of under 50 points!
