The red was good, and the blonde won.

Alex, nah they are a bit under saturated. Look at the blue neons on the top of Crown, that's a tell tale sign right there. They're usually a lot more vivid then that in person.

Good work all. Yes, I piked. (And I think a couple of others said they were going to be there too? Stormy for example [who called me a big girl's blouse for not making the previous meet])

Anyway, looking forward to seeing some photos.

Guilty Greg! I sent my apologies to Piro to pass on to everyone. I have pulled a muscle in my neck causing a headache, and didn't think it wise to be out in the cold. Tired and miserable too, so not pleasant company!

I'm looking forward to seeing the pics, and hopefully we can tee up another one during day light savings and get some dusk shots!

Sorry to hear that Stormy, I guess that is a pretty good reason.

Alex, the top shot I'd crop out a lot of the foreground as it's not really contributing anything to the shot. Good shots btw, I'm happy with only a few. Mostly the shots of the members (ps. stubbsy/chi if you want them let me know. I have Tai 1&2, Wayne and Ray, Mike Parker). Tried to get some shots of Andrew, Mark and Janette but they were too dark or somebody (Andrew) had their eyes half closed.

Like the last Tai. I wanted to do something similar but was very hard with 50MM. I would have to had jumped over the balcony and into the yarra to get the shot

hmm..you could have just frame the sculpture with the blue backdrop?

I did, but it looked a whole lot better when I was framing it in my head with the orange colors as you did. I could barely get the orange in with the 50MM

Plus the lines in the shot forming an X shape I quite like too.

I love the shot of Redline and dammmnnn... those colours ya'll are getting of the streetscapes and lights reflecting are simply beautiful!

Really excellent work all around!

Now we just need to convince the Sydney-siders to do more than just have mini-meets at Birdy's eh?

Yeah, I kind of enjoy these meets that we have. Have a bit of food and drink, the go out and try to take some photos. I'd prefer to try somewhere new though instead of fed square, however I don't have any ideas where.

Thanks for the compliment re: redline, it looks pretty good in black and white too. Although the red channel is a bit noisey, think a lot of the light was fairly redish which I reduced a bit in that shot as he looked like a jaffa.

Cool, you people had fun midnight marauding the streets of Melbourne.

Kipper that portrait of 'redline' is amazing, beautiful Bokeh, excellent lighting, interesting pose and expression on the subject.
is amazing like a cell shot for a sci fi movie, reminicent of blade runner. or some hi tech sophisticated Hong Kong action flick. Love the moody urban feel to a serious image.

genji shot 2 and 3 are the best, the 2nd is framed really well, and captured thoughtfully to make the scene look loney with the illuminated lamp at the botom of the shot. The 3rd has excellent placement of the billbaords on the curved wall within the viewable frame, the portrait images on the billboard help give this picture that extra oomph, well spotted

Alex you have captured the reflections in the water very well your images make melbourne look like 'it's the place to be', warm and exciting bursting with colour.

Deano, nice capture of crown and those bellowing flames, in a tall portrait, the distortion of the building makes the image look more dramatic.

Leigh i agree we should organize a Sydney Night meet, Rokkstar and Glamy have expresed interest in my light grafitti methods, we should gather some sydneysiders for a night meet.

I forgot to comment when you posted Alex. Yes I think the colors are slightly over saturated and maybe the WB is slightly off. I'd say they're going towards the warm side slightly. Especially the footbridge (god what is it's name) over the yarra and flinders st station.

I really enjoyed this outing. I agree perhaps the next one could be somewhere different. I'd even prefer out of the city.

Alex, a tip and I've started to learn to do it this way. Others may disagree here. If you're shooting a set of shots that, are in a similar environment (eg. a lot of buildings at night). Then you should set your WB first up either using a WB tool such as pringles lid or expodisc, or use the presets and finetune them. Check in the LCD display until you're fairly happy with the results of what it looks like. Once set, leave it. Then at home if you need to fine tune it do so, but make sure you do it to all images. Otherwise you'll notice inconsistancies between shots.

Thanks, Darryl. Do you use preset by choosing a an image of a WB you consider suitable and then all consequtive images use the same setting?

Sometimes I will do that, but most times I will just use the presets. Speaking of which. I noticed something interesting in Nikon Capture. Where you might think seeing 3000 for the WB is the same no matter what. I noticed that 3000 Fluoro appeared different to 3000 Incandescent. I always assumed the number in NC was just very similar to Kelvins. However it appears it's not, and you can have same numbers but different coloring.

I really didn't have a crash hot night with traffic delays, rocking up to the meet late, having an extremely long dinner - which led to little time for photo taking. Sorry peeps
