Inspiration required...

Hi everyone
listening to the weather forecast for Melbourne, this Sunday looks to be a magnificent day to get out into the sunshine and enjoy playing with my D70.
There are so many options to choose from, I just don't know where to go.
I'd prefer not to travel further than an hour out of the CBD of Melbourne....any suggestions on where I should go ???

Sydney is only an hour away by plane
Harbour Bridge,
Opera House, The Rocks, Bondi, etc............

I had that coming to me....didn't I !!!
Please let me clarify....an hour "by car"....and I mean in
my car, unfortunately, I don't have a Lamborghini Diablo.....it's only a Mazda SP20

Sometimes no plan, is better than a plan. Hop in your car, or bus, train, tram and ideas will come as you go along.

The Melbourne CBD is worth a visit in itself. I've got heaps of good photos just wandering around the CBD on the weekend. Only hassle is beggars. Alternatively, Geelong is one hour from Melbourne and has some good scenary (if you look hard). The region between Melbourne and Geelong can produce some good landscape shots. There are a multitude of parks and gardens in the Dandenongs. Nicholas Memorial Gardens are pretty and being autumn should be colourful right now. Anyway, I hope the above helps.

The Dandenongs are always nice. I think some of the parks have waterfalls but I can't remember which ones. On the other side of the peninsula there is Cape Schanck. There is a lighthouse down there and also Fort Nepean.

While I think hopping in a car is great and seeing where things take you. Sometimes it's good to have some sort of plan of where you want to go otherwise you spend valuable light trying to find something worth shooting.
I went for a drive upto the Breakaways the other week, spent about 2hours getting there, hoping to get a nice shot of the Goulburn River at sunset. However the location wasn't the best for the shot. So I packed up and went home as I had no clue where I could get a good shot (didn't fancy walking along the river.....no hiking boots + snakes don't mix).

thanks everyone for all your suggestions. I think I'd prefer to have a location set so I can go there directly and concentrate on shooting photos, rather than meandering around....although I can see the benefits of not having a plan as well.
If anyone has any locations they think would suit a nice sunny day....I'm all ears
