Hi all,

Decided to start a new thread for the Melbourne meet photos rather than making people have to sift through 5 pages of Greg's weather reports to get to the images.

I've learn my lesson about pre-packing and checking. Brought two camera batteries which were low + forgot the kit lens. It was good though forced me to not go snap happy and learn more about the 50 1.8

Hi Wayne, you've got some fantastic shots there. Some I never would have thought of... which is my main problem.
It's interesting to see how people take shots and what they see through their lenses. I'm learning alot.
Please post more guys.

Looks like a good time was had by all.
Sorry I didn't make it - the wedding shoot from the preceding night ran late and I didn't get to bed until the early hours of the morning.
I woke up at 10 or 11 and cursed at myself for not making it out there, especially given the lovely weather. I was doubly cursing when I realised I missed a chance to play with the D2x.
Hopefully the next meet will be soon.

Some images of a "Chalk Artist" I took after the group had dispersed.

This is more my style. People photography. I have no hope getting good images of buildings and birds.

Great one embi Just out of interest, how did you take the photo of the chalk artist? Did you ask for her permission first? I'd like to do a bit more street photography too but not really sure what to do

Great shots Mark... judging by what I can see in shot #5, that lady has an amazing feel for perspective - that looks like Flinders St station from above...

WOW, these are great Embi! You sure have an eye for this sort of photography. Love the feel of the B/W and the composition. The shadows are wonderful.Top stuff!!!

Embi, yours are brilliant! 3rd one is my fav! Excellent stuff! Nothing like people shots in B&W.

I just start taking images.

I studied Photojournalism at PSC in Southbank and I was taught to just start taking shots. If you ask, you miss them.

Deal with the it after you have the shot. I can say I have never had a problem though. You just explain what you are doing and they think its special to be photographed. I always offer to show them the images though.

Its taking me awhile to get back into it after many years of not getting behind a camera but I'm starting to feel right at home again.

p.s. She did say that I had to make a donation after I started. I think she thought I was taking photos of her work rather than her as my main subject.

Thanks Embi. I plan to do a day of busking photography in the city If I need to make a small donation, I don't mind. It's going to help me as well as them.

Embi, probably a weekend in August as I'm swamped for the rest of July.

 BTW embi, your B&W shots of the artist at work are really engaging. Although her illustrations are an element of your photos, but not necessarily the main point of them, now I'm curious about what her drawings look like in colour!

Wendelt, that shot was of me with the D2X (the bloke with the brown parker coat on). I was playing with Norm's D2X. Wendel, you're a lucky fella

embi, thanks for putting up the colour shots of the pavement artist. I like the third one especially; the long afternoon shadows and earthy tones convey a sense of the time and concentration the artist has put into the work. I also like #2 for the detail.
