China Photo Tour (April 2008)

I have some contacts at Foto Riesel (Mick Connolly) in Sydney and here is a great opportunity for not only a holiday but a great photographic tour of China for 2008.

Sydney photography tutors Dr. Zen Loy and Mick Connolly will lead a 16-day photography tour to China. The tour is fully escorted with local English speaking guides. The tour will have a bit more time for photography and you will have the opportunity to expand your photography skills. Come with your digital cameras. Non photographers are also most welcome to join the tour.

The tour includes:

Shanghai - the Bund, Pudong, Yu Garden, the Bazaar, Xintiandi, acrobatics show, night Shanghai cityscape. Studio workshop with 2 Chinese fashion models followed by a Photoshop/Lightroom session (or shopping tour for those not attending workshop).

Huangshan (Yellow Mountain: the inspiration of Chinese painters and poets) - tour, sunrise photography of Yellow Mountain.

Guilin (scenic river and limestone peaks) - Seven Star Park, Reed Flute caves, Longshen Rice terraces, local minority culture, Li River cruise.

Hangzhou - beautiful West Lake, Tea plantations, Lingyin Temple, Impressions show.

Suzhou (ancient water town) - canals, Administrator’s house, Silk making, cultural show.
Cost of tour package is $4318 per person, ex-Sydney, twin share; $767 single supplement; land content only is $3133.

Thanx for posting this.

After my recent sojourn to HK and Shenzhen, I'm already starting to plan a return visit, and with this posting I'm wondering about the possibility of a DSLRUsers.com tour.

Given that we already have well established local connections, I'm curious as to how much, if any, interest there might be in this sort of thing?

Please indicate interest if you're more than just semi-interested; our contacts in HK now also include the travel industry(!), and I'm somewhat confident that with even a smallish number, we may be able to get something going, and probably at the usual Poon pricing levels.

No idea as yet, Dave.

For the moment I just want to know if we even have a possibility of getting enough bodies onto a plane and into a bus. Accommodation, food, etc is very inexpensive, and we already have some bargaining power and very good contacts.

FWIW, I'm thinking in terms of 10 PAX as a probable starting point.

definately be interested, after watching carefully the POTN Africa Tour going on as we speak i need to start travelling again and have always wanted to visit China just not on my own so this would be perfect.

Having recently watched an episode of the latest Survivor: China, it has inspired me to visit those remote locations. They look gorgeous and are captured by the Survivor TV crew well.

Confirm me as a definite. I'll most likely be based in HK at some stage next year anyways.

Nothing of significance as yet, but ...

Tibet looks like it may be a part of our itinerary too.

The basic framework looks to be something along the lines of SYD-HKG, then China and Tibet, return to HKG and then back to SYD (or wherever).
