Not sure if this has already been posted in another forum but I'll place it here anyway for those interested.
Tamron are running a photo competition and want you to submit your best travel shots.
"We're looking for an image that was taken in the great outdoors – anywhere in Australia or the world. The shot should be the consummate "travel photograph" – something that shows your engagement with the world you saw through your lens at the time. It could be a stunning landscape, a picture of fellow travellers doing something crazy or interesting on their holidays."
First prize is an adventure safari for two in the Northern Territory valued at $4000.
Second prize is a Tamron SP AF11-18mm F/4.5-5.6 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) lens. Retail value $1,199.
Third prize is a Tamron AF18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) MACRO lens. Retail value $899.

Entry page HERE
I'll be entering and I hope some other D70users do too as it would be awesome if someone from these forums won any of those prizes. If you win, please reply to let us know (so I can pay you a visit to beat you up and steal your prize). Muahahaha! You can submit up to five shots taken within the past year (or older as they wouldn't know).
Good luck to those that enter.

But I wouldn't mind betting that the winning photo just "happens" to come from a tamron lens
I just "happen" to own a tamron lens

Our AA Challenge No:5 is far better and easier.

Don't see this as an attack but I'm stunned you just wrote that! For someone who may have some influence in this community, shouldn't you be encouraging your fellow D70users to enter more competitions and explore their photographic creativity? I personally enjoy a challenge and don't always see easier as being better.
The fact that the winners will have their images displayed on the Maxwell website AND in the Australian newspaper for hundreds of thousands of people to see is a good reason to enter and be recognised by the industry (IMO). It may also be the first in a long list of awards you can proudly show your website.
I'll enter and I may not win but I'll feel satisfied knowing that I've tried.
Meh... that's just my two cents. LOL!

I would love that second prize, and
a. I have travel photos, and
b. they are taken with a Tamron lens.
I reckon I'll have a crack.

Now if I can only find a decisive travel moment, I can kill two birds with one stone, so to speak
