Hard case front/back pack?

I've been trying without success to find a hard shelled back or front pack for carrying my gear while riding my (dirt/trail) bike.

Ideally I'd like to be able to keep my camel-back so a front back would be prefered, but seeing any hard shell is so hard to find then I guess I've got Buckleys of finding a hard front pack

So far I've only been taking a snappy fuji or kodak with me coz I don't want to destroy $7k of nikon gear. But I'm getting really frustrated at not getting the best possible images.

Can anyone suggest where I can find something suitable?

Thanks, I'm aware of these type. Would have to go into a "normal" pack & very uncomfortable to land on. But the protection level would be great.

I'm in Oz, but more than 50km from a beach - which is effectively beyond the black stump. Meaning it doesn't much matter *where* an item is coz I need to mail order it regardless. The nearest town's "CBD" has a Pub a Store and a Post Office and we're bloody lucky to still have the PO.

"Normal" Pelikan cases might be too heavy. I have two one weighs 4Kg the other 9kg without anything in it?
The smaller ones might do the trick but it will be a protection case for inside the backpack – this way you still can have any kind of backpack you like

I see Pelikan in lunch box sizes on there site...

Or not sure if this is feasible but why not go to fibre glass moulders have them mould a foam fitting case I presume you are taking body and a wide zoom only?

I've seen a couple of hard-shell back packs in stores around Melbourne; that last one i saw was at Peter Stevens Motorcycles in Ringwood (although i'm pretty sure all P.S stores would have them).

They do look pretty industrious for what your wanting to use it for, but i'd imagine if you were to take a spill on a hard backed case that it would do a sizeable amount of damage to your back.

Also, they're anything but cheap... the ones i tried on were $220 and that was the basic model plastic one. They went higher for better paint jobs (metallic's) and even higher for a carbon fibre one.

My concern would be landing on your back ontop such a hard case mind you my motorbike experience is ... dismal.

I remember seeing a pelican-like case with a strap system which made it into a backpack... Ill try and find the article / website if you want.

Is this what you were thinking of?
It's more designed for carrying rather than for landing on top of. I think a luggage rack for the bike might be the safest option...
