First pano with Pano Factory

G'day all,

Just had a quick play with Pano Factory, been using Autostitch for a while but was getting a little frustrated with the time it takes and also the fact that Autostich can only output in jpeg. Autostich does a great job for the cost (free ) but anyway...

Also tried PTGui but even using the control points I couldn't get the results as polished as the automated mechanism within pano factory.

Anyone else tried pano factory? Any thoughts, tips etc? Just used the free trial version (clone out the watermark, hence the bodgy clouds in the middle).

Stitched 8 shots resulting in a 27M Pixel image in only a few minutes, wow! That would have taken ages in Autostich... Hmmm, looks like spiffy pano software...

Whooopps, thanks mate I must admit, I'm having trouble keeping up with all the threads these days, I think I'm missing heaps...

I think I'll also purchase the real McKoy version of PF. For the complexity of it, I'm surprised at the cost of pano software, sounds very reasonable to me being just $59US, although I didn't think there was any difference between the trial and purchased versions (I'm using v4), just the watermark

Good panorama, but not perfect in terms of technical perfection. It may looks fine on small preview, but I can bet errors will be more pronounced with original size. Even with this size I can see stiching areas - center of the water - three of them. Also I am pretty sure in original the bridge will be not aligned perfectly. Not mention more complex architecture and multi-rows panoramas.

Having that in Photoshop on separate layer would not leave any marks. But that is the problem of automatic software, it can align pieces to some extend and blend it through opacity mask. That is all. When accurency with more complex images become to be important I dont think any sort of _PanoWiz_ software can help.

But that is only my opinion

Looks ok to me Andrew, well done mate as i know these things are not easy, i try now and then but all mine are like hand held so i dont expect much.

I'm with you! look perfect in a small version but when you blow it up, there're errors.

That why people bought pano tools for + techniques to learn.

It's not the simple way to capture the pano with handholding and blow up & frame it.

It's not hard also, if you have the right tools, it help you more easier and when come to the play with sofware, it's with less of faults than.

You guys should read the posts a bit more. It his first pano with pano factory Great software though.

you will find that pano factory has the ability for you to tell it what lens, camera etc

In some cases this increases the accuracy of stitching.
all part of the learning experience
