Tamron SP AF-200-800mm f/5-6.3 Di LD IF Telephoto ZoomWould like to get into some bird photography, was wondering would this be a suitable lens ?
Re: Tamron SP AF-200-800mm f/5-6.3 Di LD IF Telephoto Zoomi dont have any experience with the tammie. the bigma seems a very popular chocie for birding people so i'd consider that aswell.

Re: Tamron SP AF-200-800mm f/5-6.3 Di LD IF Telephoto Zoomsigma have the f5.6 300-800mm....i haven't saw any images taken with it
Re: Tamron SP AF-200-800mm f/5-6.3 Di LD IF Telephoto Zoom
I had an inkling about that as well, but was too tired to check last night,. I cant find this lens after a quick google, but I do know the 200-500 which is a pretty good lens, a hell of a lot lighter than the Bigma. I have not had much first hand exp wiht it, but having seen some shots done useing this lens I can say that it would not be a bad choice over the bigma, esp if you already have the 50-200mm range covered (ie with an 18-200) and weight is an issue. Re: Tamron SP AF-200-800mm f/5-6.3 Di LD IF Telephoto Zoom
When Ive had a play with the Tamron 200-500 behind my friends Canon 400d, I found it a very nice lens to use and gave excellent results. My only critisism is that in Manual focus, I found the focus ring in the wrong position and a little awkward to use, but I know Id soon adapt if I owned it Nunquam requîrere a aptus occãsiõ ad claudere sûrsum

Maybe they have put the wrong focal distance on it.
Re: Tamron SP AF-200-800mm f/5-6.3 Di LD IF Telephoto Zoom
Appears it is a typo. If you read the description on their site, they mention 500mm (and 760mm with and APS-C sensor). So this is a 200 - 500. Ant. D90 | D50 | Tamron 17-50 2.8| AF-S 18-55 DX (and VR) | Sigma 70 - 300 APO DG | 50mm 1.8 | SB-600

Re: Tamron SP AF-200-800mm f/5-6.3 Di LD IF Telephoto ZoomWas it for Nikon?
I have the Tamron 200-500mm and love it. I used to take a lot more surfing photos than I do now and have found that with a new baby and other photographic interests I don't have much of a need for it anymore. PM me if you would like more info. Or check out my website http://www.indigoreefphotography.com.au and go to the action section, most of the surfing images are taken with the Tamron 200-500mm.
