600mm examples1st day with a canon 600mm f4 IS and a EOS1D Mark II, still learning the new system
first impressions harder to handle than nikon but im glad i use both systems no post processing jpeg fine straight out of the camera low light situation, this image has been jpeged twice in camera and photoshop after watermarking shot from 150 feet away, used IS mode 1 on a monopod tapered focus 16 metres, 'one shot' mode, even at a shutterspeed of 1/250 at 600mm the IS kicked in and gave me a relatrively sharp image http://www.zeduce.org/images/600/01.JPG 1/250, f4, iso 1000 my cat in the garden http://www.zeduce.org/images/600/02.JPG 1/500, f4, iso400 http://www.zeduce.org/images/600/03.JPG 1/800, f4, iso 250 http://www.zeduce.org/images/600/04.JPG 1/6000, f4, iso160 http://www.zeduce.org/images/600/05.JPG 1/2000, f4, iso/250 the only thing that bothers me is the quality of the bokeh at f4 just for interest probably not a fair comparison but this is shot with a new nikkor 400mm f2.8N with a 2nd hand recalibrated d2x body with image sharpen set to auto, this image has been jpeged twice http://www.zeduce.org/images/600/06.jpg 1/400, f2.8, iso 640 Wendell Levi Teodoro

Re: 600mm examplesWendell,
change in direction for your photography with the long lenses? Great lens the 600mm and so is the Nikon 400mm f2.8. As you say, the bokeh does look a bit "off", not as nice from what I have seen from that lens on bird photos. Have you tried processing a RAW file and comparing it to the out of camera jpeg? cheers, André Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Re: 600mm exampleshi andre
i havnt changed direction in my shootign i still prefer shorter lenses just on occasion some assignments require me to get closer like music events at acer or anz stadium where im 150 feet away im not going to start shooting sport yet one rtging i also noticed the AF on the supertelephot lenses is slightly slower so for action shots where subject is heading towards you aquiring focus lock is really hard unless you know what your doing and anticipate the shot and manually focus or limit the focus still got heaps of practice to go Wendell Levi Teodoro
