Thanks SS, I wonder how much it would cost to upgrade from the previous version. This is awesome software in my book... but I think that I will test out Mac Aperture before upgrading. It will be interesting to see which is best.

Some tightwad Pommie colleagues are whinging that APERTURE places high demands on processing power and that anything less than a twin-processor tower is not feasible.
I'd be happy to comply with those needs if working on RAW data right through the production cycle led to better quality images.
Adobe made the decision some years back to chase broader markets by first including the PC platform and then changing to that platform as their basic point of departure, as I understand. Aperture is aimed pretty squarely at the PRO market it would seem and if it is designed to best optimise the Mac's image processing strengths then that can only be a good thing.
Curiously, as I may have said before, Canon have conducted market research which reveals that the vast majority of DSLRs sold (not only by them) are seldom used in RAW and that lower grades of JPEG are the norm. In their case this has led to the PICTURE STYLE menu option. If Apple are serving a different market by focussing on RAW then it might be a good thing for those of use who are not rushing to meet tight deadlines and transmission times.
Depending on the front-end of APERTURE this iView thingy coiuld be a good ancillary package.
