Seems like a good all-round performer.
Considered the 24-120 VR too? A bit of extra length plus VR makes is a good walk-around lens.

Hi
I had this as it is the kit lens that go with my cameras ( S2 Fuji ), little soft at wide open ( F3.5) , otherwise it is very sharp stop down and same quick as D70 Kit lens, the light weight, quick and sharp made it a walk around lens , but there is some distortion at 24 mm but for me noob I do not see anything, it work on my fujis2, and the old film Nikkon F80, the down side is at low light , flash or ISO up has to be used.Quite good If you can get it cheaply , otherwise look at the 24-120 VR as it is same but with extra length and VR.

Sorry, it can be used as a door stopper on DSLR, not much life in it.

It depends on how much you can get it for.
If it's dirt cheap then go for it.
If it's brand new at a brand new price, then sleep on it. For some reason Nikon always keeps on coming out with so many midrange zooms so obviously there are other alternative which are better

Thanks to everyone for their input. I'm still considering purchase from E-Bay.
