The Nikon also comes with a soft fabric pouch included. The Canon comes with an adapter for mounting on cameras with smaller viewfinders, so it fits pro bodies (on Nikon lines, that's the circular types: D1, D2 series) as well as amateur cameras (eg. D70). This Nikon DR-6 model is specific for smaller viewfinder cams, the DR-5 would be for the pro series cameras.

The Nikon has 1x and 2x magnification. The Canon has 1.25x and 2.5x.

MattK if you're reading this, I think you should write some more - as you were the one who's tried them out more thoroughly than I have, and how it suits your macro shooting style.

Hi Onyx

I actually posted the first thread on the Canon Angle Finder C and have used it for some time.

It does the job superbly and it raises another point. If the adaptor Ed-C fits the D70 then the Canon eyecup Ed-E or ED should fit the D70 as well. The eyecup that comes with the D70 is very poor in design especially for those wearing glasses. The Nikon 2939 (I think that’s the correct number) is very rare and was made for earlier FM models etc but does fit the D70 (apprently). One sold on eBay recently for $46 - the Canon Ed-E is around $38.00

Since acquiring the Canon Angle Finder C I have been able to focus manually very well with my 105 macro.

Cheers

Chris

Thank You

Just a note to thanks: Matt.K + His wife, Onyx have contributed their spare times today in doing product shoot at my base. Especially Matt demonstrated some techniques to use the monopod and Onyx spend his times writing few short reviews same as posting to this section.

I hope we will often have these reviews or product shoots in the near future and they'll be used as reference to our members prior to make a decision to purchase their gears.

I'm able to see members every Saturday morning with their needs and discussion about their furure purchases, same as let people play with all my availble gears onsite.

Just call me on 0416 218 618 prior to come.

Here are a couple of shots I took using the Canon finder. I tried both the Nikon and Canon right angle finders and believe the Canon is the better of the two because it has more magnification. They bot have a sharp, bright image. The shots were hand-held and taken indoors. I was simply testing the units.
The first shot is of a very, very small model soldier and the second is the Acratech ballhead. Both shots using a 60mm macro lens and the Canon finder. It is an excellent unit.

Raydar treat it as research only at the moment - if you have a Canon dealer nearby try before you buy

Hi Raydar

I looked at the same as you, checked out Oz - no luck - checked out US - very rare - that is why I am looking at going the Canon way with the eyecup. The Ed-E rotates for vertical shots as well.

I saw this Birddog at $6.50 US + $26.25 US (cheapest postage) - OK if you are buying a few items but if you are buying just this item it would cost $41.53 at todays exchange rate - but on the other hand if someone bought 10 (B&H max buy qty) the postage is the same - this makes it a more controllable situation regarding postage
