i intend to get a pelican case 1550 with rollers so i can put the omni trekker in there and when not in use stand

on the pelican for extra height when i am in the pressbox.i wonder if birddog can supply these?

Do you know how big is it? If you have it as a backpack, then people will see the bag moving without human (with you)
Use it with the Pelican 1550? are you going to drag that box all over the places?
Think and consider about that tactic again? How long the roller last for?
If you have a car, then yes! if not, then forget about it!!!!!!

i just had a look at the omni trekker and i think you would need muscles in your shit to carry that around when its full up !!!! would be nice though, although that would mean when travelling you have lug around two suitcases one for cam gear and one for clothes !

and when not in use stand on the pelican for extra height when i am in the pressbox.

I know exactly what i need to bring to a show
I figured from the diagrams the omni trekker has the right amount of room,
I won't be using the omni trekker for genral walking around as i still
have my minitrekker for day to day photographing and travelling

just preparing for fashion week and loreal fashion festival early next year, i have to look the part or they won't let me in i.e. pelican case and all

so i will only be using the pelican case on an event to event basis not every day.

what other lowepro(backpack) solution would you suggest?
lets say for 1 camera body +
70-200vr
28-70
85mm
apple ibook2 laptop
sb800 sd8a and a bunch of odd bits

OK, you have to think and answer to yourself:
- When you want to do the shooting an event, will you trust the place by placing your gear out of your eyesight?
- Do you want to be mobility in shooting at an event?
- Do you need all your gears at an event?
- Do you have an assistant?
- Do people care what you shoot with?

last time i was in the pressbox most of the pro photogrpahers took first line i was at the back of them and me lacking in height i had to stand on my toes to get shots over their shoulders. I saw one other girl she was short like me, she stood on her pelican case with her monopod to get a better view it worked well. Every pro photographer at fashion week had a pelican or hard case with wheels. Some sat on them and photographed low at the front and others stood on them to get more height over the people in the first row.

usually fashion events are held in nice infrastructures smooth surfaces and all, i am not lugging my stuff on a rocky surface

It helps to maintain a certain level of appearance, fashion is all about perception, you have to look the part as well as being accredited.

A free shopping trolley at Woolies is cheap and handy, you can pick it up free anywhere around, it can be used with many great purposes.

your right i need muscles, which i lack in abundance, I have 6 months to work on that. However i will only be walking around short distances like hotel room -> event -> back to room
taxi to airport

I might end up going for the omni traveller much smaller
i guess i don't have to bring everything - getting the job done with 1 body and the 70-200

i guess i can pack some of my clothes in the micro trekker on my back

you two have really got me thinking, why is everything so confussing?

but trollies are not allowed in to these events you have to check them in and a vallet will park it for you - for modest fee of course. Once in, your on foot.

As you known, I have three times the gears you have (3 camera bodies + heap of lenses), gone shooting with many events, in the air or on the ground, I never break any of my gears and I don't need the Pelican nor require any other Omni bag. I only carry what I think I need to use with those events.

They may check you and the Pelican case in the cargo hold.

Get there first or as early as no one there yet, and secure a good spot in front of other pp in the pressbox.

you showed me your larger bagat last minimeet looks bigger and not too bulky

now i have two choices here

1. one day i wil require the omni trekker because i will ahve a heap of stuff
so buy the omni trekker now and save money by not having to purchase againa and again - good investment buy large so you scale down

2. buy the slightly larger than my micro trekker bag whatever that is - your one for Paris and general walkaround with my new 70-200
and then later early next year buy the omni trekker and pelican case
if i do this i will end up with 3 bags and a hard case.

Damn i carry one of these big plastic tubs with alid on with most of my gear in it, it stays in the car so which is ok. but yeh a bag like this would be good when you are going to have to walk a bit like at an event where you cant get back to the car etc.. not that i would take it all for an event of that type, but just take what i need. Is ok around here at the local events but if i go away i might be looking at 1 of these myself.
