KingPano arrived

Woohoo.. Finally got my King Pano today after waiting nearly 6 weeks for it.

I've put it all together, and just had a question for those that have one.

In the package, I got a big black knob, a small black knob, and two silver screws. The big black knob was self explanatory, but the small knob, and two silver screws have me stumped as to what they are for. The quick start guide, and the website show the pieces but not the screws, so I have no idea where or if I even need them. I seem to be able to mount the D70 without the use of the small knob, and two silver screws so what gives?

Edit: Okay, I just realised I'd put the two big black knobs where the two silver screws go, but then that would leave me with two big black knobs with know where to go. I'm starting to assume these are different types of screws/knobs to use at my own discretion eg. it doesn't matter which ones I use where. Am I correct.

One screw holds a plate to your camera and the longer screw holds plate and camera to the horizontal arm of the head..........with the d70 in the veritical position

I'd already put it together, and checked out the website and it didn't make a lot of sense why I had extra screws etc. So I emailed Bill King, and just got a reply a minute ago. Apparently they are extra screws etc to make it more versatile on how to put it together.

All is good. Now I just need to play around with it. I'll do that tomorrow.

I have found that the Kingpano head quite good when using the kit lens or the 12-24 sigma. Nodal points for the kit lens are on the web site, but I worked out my own for the 12-24 sigma following the instructions posted on the same site. For a cheap pano head, it is very good, but a little bulky. I have used it to produce some wide work for clients and they have been very happy, but I am unable to show pix here. I have used PSCS2 to stich images together, sometimes having to select the images and stich 2 or 3 times to get a very good result, as I am on Mac's the other program I also use for stiching is Panorama Maker, I find this program very good also.........I have not tried the Kingpano head using long lens........I guess primes would be better......
