Just wondering if this lens

would work on my D70.

I would like a wide angle but budget can't stretch to getting new lens just now.

Do older lens from Nikon Slr's work ok on a D70?

Cheers Graham

Yes, it'll work but have to do all manually, no metering with the D70 on old lens (AI/AIS).

Graham you do realise that it is not as wide as the kit lens? It is 24mm the kit is 18mm.

a 36mm prime on a digital camera will be quite nice actually.

As others have said, it'll work, but you'll have to guess the settings, shoot, check the histogram/highlights etc, then adjust accordingly. Would go better on the D200 or a D2 series body, much less work than on a D70.

It a shame the D70 doesn't have a needle matching manual exposure method like on the older film SLR's.

Barry,
You get what you pay! I have seen many photographers used the AI/AIS lens on the D70 with great results.
