Couldn't help it - ever wondered why you wasted money buying a telescope AND a 400mm lense? You need this...

I'd just be happy with a 400 lens, so long as it's f2.8
so much lust, so little money.......... sigh.

Thanks for that Justin...
I have a saved search on eBay looking out for one of these, but for some reason it didn't get triggered...
Anyway - I've placed a bid and it's now on my watch list

Nah! 400mm 2.8 is my choice!

Buy or get a proper telescope is quite cheaper and quality than that.

If you've already got a 400/f2.8 you might as well try tro use it. I found the lens-scope converter to introduce a slight amount of CA, when using it for stargazing with the 300/f4. I also found it very uncomfortable as it allows straight-through viewing only (no 90° or 45°).

On the other hand, a similar aperture scope (such as the 6" Intes MK-67 Maksutov-Cassegrain - an excellent compact scope) costs a lot less than the Nikkor, even if counting in a 2" mirror diagonal, eye-pieces, etc.

Cheers
Steffen.

Buy 2 of these, stick two 400mm together and you get a binocular to use around the streets...

Bummer... I took my eye off the ball at lunchtime and was pipped at the post by two people... It went for $256 which was $6 more than my max bid... I knew I should have put in a higher bid this morning...

On a positive note - I found out why my saved search didn't flag this one up to me... I'd misspelt converter  Hopefully I'll get the next one...

Was a lot cheaper than the 485 and 500 that the last two went for...

Makes my 25 dollars one just SOOO much nicer...

I can still get mileage on that after three months..
