Finally bought the piece of equipment I have been after for some time. The Manfrotto magic arm.

A wonderful tool that I have used many times in studio for holding lights, monitors and the like in place.
In many ways it is the tripod for all occasions, you can attach it to anything and then position your camera and then lock it off.
So if you are over lens lust and are into tripod lust then I can highly recommend the Magic Arm

That looks really interesting Mal... but can you use it to operate your puppets?

I'd love to see a couple of shots of how this can be used...

I'll get some shots of it in use. I used it today to take a couple of shots while on set. I was doing some time lapse shots of cast and crew moving around on set. I wanted to place the camera on a low position and out of the way, so out came the magic arm and I was able to attach the camera in a low postion on the set.

I picked up one of the magic arms a while back on ebay, can be very handy.
I wouldn't mind the backlite base that comes in that kit, lets you put a flash at floor level, which is great for lighting up underneath something.
