Forum Down

Not really, well not tonight anyway.

When the forum was down the other Saturday I was bored  So, I lept onto eBay to have a goosey gander and saw a lens for sale with only one hour to go. The bid stood at $121.00 but I imagined it would leap up in the last few minutes. One minute before the end of auction it still stood at $121.00. So, 59 seconds before the end I placed a bid of $130.05.

When the auction ended I had won the item for $123.50 :!: :!: :!:

What did I win: Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 Ais in mint condition

It arrived today so I shot up the road for some very quick and unimaginative - two of which are below. BTW this is one great lens.

I'd actually like to find out if that could be mounted onto a digital.

Being that there are two types - bayonet and screw, I would imagine an adaptor could be machined for the screw mount. Like the M42 to Nikon adaptor.

Phillip - now you’re talking. That is one beautiful outfit - a Nikon S no less.

It would appear that the seller is a member of the APCS from his login name.

Re the first photo:

Is there something sinister here?
Why is the young lady hurrying?
And the man? What has he done?
What about the baby? Is there indeed a baby inside?
The graffiti on the post box concerns me.
And that illegally parked motorcycle. There has to be something behind this photo. Something sinister I feel.... :D

Great buy Chris, let me know next time you see a 600mm Nikkor surfing lens going cheap on ebay, say $130 or so and I will bid for it.

Max,

You raise some great points here.

In particular, I think Chris needs to call the post office and have some maintenance applied to that letterbos. Have a look at the poor condition of the paintwork at its base. It surely is in need of repair.

:)

You're right here Gary - RUST. What does that mean?
Rich Urban Sinister Tourist ? Running away from mailbox!
The white van - doesn't that look sinister to you?
"Shore partners" - Who are they and what do they do?
This photo should be reported to ASIO, no doubt about it.
Maybe Chris should be reported too?
And what of the 50mm 1.4? Surely it couldn't be THAT cheap?
The sinister plot thickens.... :D

(It's my day off today, I've got too much time on my hands....maybe I can now write that suspense novel, with photographs...)

Max,

I think Chris needs to urgently find his fridge magnet and see if he can defend Military Rd with it.

Hmmm ...

Military Road?

The plot surely thickens.

Chris, you can always turn a Sigma lens into a Molotov Cocktail and throw it at that letterbox! :)

I have it, it's as clear as day, the bloke running away from the postbox is Molotov, Sergio Molotov, (KGB circa 1981), he has just posted a packet, a Sigma lens, to a friend in Siberia, but he has been caught by the lady with the pram, an undercover Maxwell's (smart) agent, who is hiding a Nikkor lens gun in the pram. (The van is standard Maxwell's issue, paid for by excess profits from unwary Australian buyers).

I knew there was an explanation. One question remains - what has Chris got to do with all this? :D

(The kettle's boiling, time for another cuppa...)
