I'm interested in a large hard case (something like an eski I suppose), which I can stuff with silica gell and keep my gear in while it's not being used.

Any suggestions?

Fortigurn, it may be worth looking at a Pelican case. I recently got one for its indestructible nature so I can transport my gear as airline luggage. But it meets your criteria of being a large hard case and I'm actually using mine to store my gear in now.

A Pelican case is exactly what you're after.

They're very tough, dust and water sealed (check specifications for each model - some list a buoyancy rating / water proofing) and also have a pressure valve built in.

A pelican Silica gel module is also available.

I'll be doing this for the first time in October Scott. I'm a bit nervous about it though and am thinking of hand carrying my d200 with 28-70 firmly attached. Never know, might get some images on the flight.

Over here in Taiwan silica gel cannot be had for love or money, and the preferred dessicant is lime. I placed three lime bags in my Lowepro MiniTrekker, and in about two weeks they had ballooned out to ridiculous proportions and were clearly useless.

The humidity over here is a killer.

Same again, expensive but well worth it, the Pelican silica gel "modules" can be reconditioned by placing in an oven for 3 x hours @ 300F

Fantastic, I've finally found a Pelican supplier in Taipei.

Oh wow, they have a great range of dry boxes, and they also have renewable silica gel modules.

I have a dehumidifier in the room where I keep all my gear. Everything from paper to films and electronics is kept at low humidity levels...
